Then tell us what is wrong with our case. It shouldn't be hard... (but it is, because our case really is cast iron.)

What drivel.

I'm not signing it.

"cast iron case" - don't think so.

You went to the bother of registering just to post that. You can't have much of a life!

No, it's made a couple of other posts on the subject of rising bollards. I give little credence to the opinions of cats, though (apart from Swiss ones) :neko:

Going well, only 20 votes behind the next highest petition... it was 300 behind this afternoon.
Mind you, the petitions site is creaking under the strain a bit, I keep getting

Sorry. This petitions site is experiencing very high demand. Please try again later."

Well done lads 'n lasses.

In the absence of an apostrophe, I assumed the split came after the "y" - and that he is full of sh*t ;-)

And 9th once the two petitions that expire on 20/2/07 have gone. In fact all but two petitions above have an earlier expiry date.

Note this was posted 8:43 on a Sunday, when Jeremy Clarkson had just heavily plugged the Toll Tax Petition on Top Gear, presumably resulting a surge of activity. A Top Gear plug for the Speed Cam Petition would do wonders...

Indeed, we are now in the top 10, brilliant.

And we're rapidly catching up with number 9, should be coasting past later on tomorrow night I reckon.

Listened to Radio 4 this evening, apparently the PM is getting a little rattled by the enormous (and unexpected) public reaction to that road spying/taxing poll. Heh heh (who's got one of those "Mutley sniggering" emoticons I can use?)

Doesn't look like it'll last long. There's one coming up at the rate of about 1,000 / hour:
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Photography

Presently at 11,264 against our 12,760

I'll get to work on our publicity then... :)

The photography petition must be being promoted by an organised campaign as it's not the kind of thing that really sounds likely to provoke strong feelings amongst a lot of people.

We really need mention of the cameras petition in the national press somehow.

The paparazzi perhaps. Photography has a big following. Maybe something run by a magazine.

Seems ironic that the government want a monopoly on filming you in public!

Perhaps they want copyright on all public filming.

I think it will provoke a fair amount of outrage among most people. After all, it doesn't only threaten hobby and professional photographers. It threatens everyone's right to take holiday snapshots and it even threatens your right to take photographs at the scene of an accident (as recommended by the insurance companies). I suspect that more people will be concerned about a proposed right to ban photography than will be concerned about the current misuse of speed cameras. BTW, the depth of feeling is largely irrelevant provided it's enough to trigger a signature.

Agreed (assuming you mean speed cameras as opposed to cameras used to photograph in public places).

Top 5 is where you really want to be. Your petition then appears on the petitions home page. A bit over 19000 signatures will be enough for that, so there is plenety of time. Then it might really take off.

BTW my own petition, after 3 days now needs only 7 more signatures to crack the top 250.

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22scrap ... cameras%22

We've putting scrapping speed cameras well and truly on the map.
