Hi there.

I know this has little to with with speeding, but since Britian has the highest fuel duty in the world (increasing yet again on October 1st) isnt it time we did something about it?

Obviously publicity is very important, and it's an incredible long-shot but a few forumists on other forums are up for this....... any suggestions?

It's been done before, and as for aiming to reduce the duty/piss the government off, it is also important to raise awareness as to how much this government are scamming off us.

Including VAT (i.e tax on tax) duty on fuel is almost 80%.

Can something not be done?

Ah I'd love a good protest.

Would it be possible to get filling stations to display this information? At least signs saying "X% of this is fuel duty, Y% is VAT.", and a breakdown on the receipt?
I'd most certainly want to do this if I owned one.

truckers almost went down that route a couple of years ago (i was keen then) but the government ran some new laws through saying that if we blockaded the refineries, we were holding the country to ransom and would therefore be dealt with as terrorists under terrorist laws :x

They seem to have the numbers wrong on the front page. They have, for example, 0.25 pence where they mean 25 pence. (Or £0.25) Quite confusing...

The problem is the government blame it on rising oil prices. Your average person doesn't know that about three times the price of the fuel goes to the government.

To get a point over like that you need 1000 people and you split them into groups wearing red and green T shirts to illistrate the tax and the fuel money
you need to spell tax an fuel out on the green by the london eye so the press get a good picture.

Ah! ...........What you need folks is: 3000+ miners!... They're the only ones who had any balls to protest against the Government! Pity you pummelled them into the ground some years ago!...(angry of the NW) . It's up to you now Folks! Do YOU feel ANGRY enough to do what they did?.........

Are you prepared to be starved for 12 months for your cause like they did?................

This mainly Private Truck Driving Elete are a bunch of Whimps IMO.........all mouth and no trousers...If you mean it...DO It!.....Don't ask for sympathy.

P.S. I see today that our: oh so busy Police Force, have suddenly found the time for thousands of Policemen to control the "Truckers" (due to "state" priorities) when they aren't available for the crime that aflicts us peasants in our streets on a daily basis!...

Sorry folks if I've offended.............but I'm just ....,,,,,,AAAARRRRRrrrghhh!!!!!!!................'issed! Off!!!!!..

i agree but what kind of effect can you expect when the general public wont get off their arses and support the truckers? in 2000 it was for the trucking and farming industries, now it is for all road users yet the majority of the protesters are truckers. where are they people who are complaining about fuel prices?

The scary thing is, reading the transaction 2007 fora, the organisers welcomed car drivers but the police were turning them away. When one poster insisted, they went over his car with a fine tooth comb to try and find something wrong with it...

Hey Scanny mate, how's tricks?

is this an attempt by the police to alienate the truckers by making them look like they are causing traffic problems by not allowing the general public (or private cars) to join in? a blatant attempt to cover the truth?

on the up thanks chick. hows you and yours? :D

Blatent attempt to put people off protesting more like. Keep the 'visible' numbers down by preventing non-hauliers from attending and make it look like they're the only ones demanding a break.

We're good thanks mate - looking forward to the 'summer'!

I think they might just want to cut a deal with trucks and exclude the car/van driver.
Gordon needs our cash. The housing market has slowed 40% or more? he is losing a bundle of money on stamp duty... somthing like £3-4 Billion, he is raising 4.6 billion alone in extra north sea oil tax. there fore he has a little to give away. then there is 60% of all the price increase at the pump is pure tax profit for gordon. the pump price has increased by 10 million pounds a day at the pumps. thats another 3.6 billion of which 60% is gordons taxes (2.190 billion)

Gordie and his chums would have plenty of money to spare if they weren't wasting it hand over fist.

sixy...where can I get hold of f*cking bells....I think they add spice to the CE household!

seriously though I just paid £1.31 per litre...needless to say I didn't fill up!! Gordo may have a whole load of trouble on his hands thhis summer he's taxed us to the limit and now the moey's run out and the economy has turned he's been caught with his wealth redistributing trousers well and truely around his ankles.

good dose of blockading would be just the ticket.
