Mail On Sunday reports on page 22:
PM Under Fire As 400 Block M4 in Speed Camera Protest
Eleanor Mayne reports:
That Tony Blair was driven at
75 mph in
a 40 mph ] zone at the same time as 400 fed up

people were on M4 go-slow!
They reported the two convoys drove on each carriageway at 56 mph and caused huge tailbacks..
(Er... thought they said you get there just as quick if you drive at a slower speed...)
B

's electioneering convoy had travelled at 75 mph up London's Westway to RAF Northolt according to a reporter travelling with him on the election campaign trail.....
Westway...

has several s/cams enforcing 40 mph. Limit rises to 70 mph when it runs out into A40 and speeding in this instance would be an aboslute offence - say RAC in paper.
The only situation whereby politician can speed is if BiB is driving (per paper.... and it has to be an
emergency and for police purpsoses.
No abuse of power then - eh Tone?
Would the PM care to explain how tryin to get IG to vote for him in ' is home constituency constitutes an "
emergency
Labour Party and Scotland Yard refused to comment to Mail On Sunday...
Meanwhile paper goes on to report that our heroes on this site (and I was there in spirit - but had commitment yesterday and we have a lot of kids as well - and the youngest get grisly at low speeds

)
MOS reported that those behind the protest claimed the s/cams will not improve safety (true) and are money making exercise (true).
Vehicls gatthered at the service stations and were given a logo to display in the windscreen and told to drive on dips. Paul was quoted as saying: "This huge show of strength sends a very clear message to the government that enough is enough. We do not believe s/cam on M4 will imporve safety. They will, however, distract drivers, cause panic braking and further damage relationship between police and public!"
Per paper - s/cams were set up last month over 7 fixed site bridges over M4 Wilts. Paper reports that this targetting of drivers well below 85 mph is a dramatic shift in policy.
P{aper reports that more than half of us drive above 70 mph and that this move will net millions of pounds.
Wilts justify it by saying 240 people died on the stretch last year, and if they all died at onece there would hav been an outcry/
My point exactly regarding the alleged 400 on 21 March in Cambridge... but they never happened. I drive on that road on that date every year and have done so for as long as I've been married to Wildy
Never seen ONE accident or any sign of clear-up and the medics at the party were never recalled once Suspect same dodgy information regarding this - and not all those crashes would have been speed per se - they are including police ones and sudden illnesses as well
Ten million of us hit the roads yesterday on Bank Holiday projects....and suspect all of us returned home safe and sound too.
