I think it's generally accepted that the M4 protest yielded positive results.

Quite a few people told me that they wished they'd known about it as they would have attended and there have been a number of posts in a similar vein on here.

So have we left it too late? Are we still serious about another protest or is the first doomed to be the last?

I'm all in favour of another one whether it is M4 or elsewhere, but have the results of the first one been properly considered as a basis for improving the effect next time?

What we need is a clear message, if we can agree what that message should be, and a lot of people out there supporting it.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I liked the floats and lorries idea. We need to make a bigger impact. More people too. The last one was great considering the short timescale for planning, but if we are to get noticed next time we need to be bigger and better.

I don't think that is going to win us many friends!

Protest have to be well targeted...and timed.

You can only aggravate on the public if you are SURE that tha majority are going to accept it is in their best interests. Otherwise you will lose their support.

I was only joking

However I agree we need to continue with a bigger and better demo.
The summer silly season in the press after westminster breaks for summer. Where you can get front page news with a smaller story. When all the londoners will be driving down the M4 for breaks in devon and cornwall and wales.

is there any way of getting some hauliers involved in the protest, the authorities are more wary of them than they are of cars and motorbikes.

i've noticed recently on single carriageway roads round my way, all the HGV's travel at 40mph all the time because of the massively increased amount of mobile traps. 6 - 12 months ago they were all doing over 50mph and not holding everyone else up! so the scare tactics have obviously got to the hauliers aswell, they cant risk totting up and now the risks are tenfold what they were a couple of years back.

why not drive round the m25 at 56mph in 2 lanes on any weekday morning (anticlockwise, please, between the M1 and the A320 turn off).

It'd be carnage, or failing that I could join in the convoy and halve my journey time!

The reason it is so slow between the M1 & the A320 is that the Heathrow roadworks start at the M4 and continue all the way to the M3 (which is right next to the A320).

If there were to be any carnage, it would only be because people are braking for the Gatso's to get themselves back down to 40mph in order to avoid 3 points and a £60 fine.
Of course you could always ride a motorcycle, and then you wouldn't have to worry about the Gatso's too much

sadly that's where I spend hours each day. This is why I find it so easy not to speed, the traffic ahead sort of stopd you going at 5mph never mind 75mph!

Of course the Gatso catches the bike Patch, but it doesn't identify the rider, and it certainly can't prove that the bike in the picture is not a clone

Surely the same could be said of any vehicle unfortunate enough to be photographed?
