I can't see anything from a quick scan of the Sunday Times, Telegraph and Independent websites. :(

Yes, Mr. Khan, 200 people have died in accidents. But how, exactly, are your speed cameras snapping motorists at 79mph going to make any difference to that?

This is the problem -- the scamera partnerships always seem to be asked for a response to the article, and then whatever rubbish they say can't be disputed because the protesters have already had their say.

Ok, I know it's the Mail on Sunday, whose politics are somewhat slightly to the right of Atilla the Hun, but we are mentioned there on page 22. Coincidentally, the article also mentions Tony Bliar (Misspelled intentionally!) being driven at 75mph in a 40 zone on his way to RAF Northolt on the A40 whilst electioneering!!!!

DOUBLE STANDARDS OR WHAT MR BLIAR? You are nothing short of a LIAR and a flamming hypocrite!

One rule for them and another for the rest of us!!

May the 5th looms and I hope you get your arse kicked out of Downing Street for good!

Mail On Sunday reports on page 22:

PM Under Fire As 400 Block M4 in Speed Camera Protest

Eleanor Mayne reports:

That Tony Blair was driven at 75 mph in :yikes: a 40 mph ] zone at the same time as 400 fed up :gatso2: people were on M4 go-slow!

They reported the two convoys drove on each carriageway at 56 mph and caused huge tailbacks..

(Er... thought they said you get there just as quick if you drive at a slower speed...)

B :liar:'s electioneering convoy had travelled at 75 mph up London's Westway to RAF Northolt according to a reporter travelling with him on the election campaign trail.....

Westway... has several s/cams enforcing 40 mph. Limit rises to 70 mph when it runs out into A40 and speeding in this instance would be an aboslute offence - say RAC in paper.

The only situation whereby politician can speed is if BiB is driving (per paper.... and it has to be an emergency and for police purpsoses.

No abuse of power then - eh Tone? Would the PM care to explain how tryin to get IG to vote for him in ' is home constituency constitutes an " emergency

Labour Party and Scotland Yard refused to comment to Mail On Sunday...

Meanwhile paper goes on to report that our heroes on this site (and I was there in spirit - but had commitment yesterday and we have a lot of kids as well - and the youngest get grisly at low speeds  )

MOS reported that those behind the protest claimed the s/cams will not improve safety (true) and are money making exercise (true).

Vehicls gatthered at the service stations and were given a logo to display in the windscreen and told to drive on dips. Paul was quoted as saying: "This huge show of strength sends a very clear message to the government that enough is enough. We do not believe s/cam on M4 will imporve safety. They will, however, distract drivers, cause panic braking and further damage relationship between police and public!"

Per paper - s/cams were set up last month over 7 fixed site bridges over M4 Wilts. Paper reports that this targetting of drivers well below 85 mph is a dramatic shift in policy.

P{aper reports that more than half of us drive above 70 mph and that this move will net millions of pounds.

Wilts justify it by saying 240 people died on the stretch last year, and if they all died at onece there would hav been an outcry/

My point exactly regarding the alleged 400 on 21 March in Cambridge... but they never happened. I drive on that road on that date every year and have done so for as long as I've been married to Wildy :neko: Never seen ONE accident or any sign of clear-up and the medics at the party were never recalled once Suspect same dodgy information regarding this - and not all those crashes would have been speed per se - they are including police ones and sudden illnesses as well

Ten million of us hit the roads yesterday on Bank Holiday projects....and suspect all of us returned home safe and sound too.

Article in The Sun about Brunstrom's 'Fleecing, not policing' policy!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005200511,00.html

OK Brunstrom; Now you've finally cottoned on to the fact your beloved scameras are not reducing accidents when are you going to get rid of them?

Arrive deprived in Brunstromia!

The Bristol Evening Post stated that the two-vehicle collision which occurred in L3 was, "a direct result of the protest".

I feel a letter coming on..

Cheers

I've emailed the editor asking for his comments on the "direct result" comment.

Waiting, waiting.

Hmm, the protest caused an accident eh? Be interesting to hear the rationale for making the comment.
Let us know if anything comes of it.

Fail to see how it was down to us as the accident occured in the 3rd lane!

Inspector Wayne Smith, of Wiltshire police, said
Quote:
the event passed without any major incident.

He said:
Quote:
"They made their protest and their point. It went smoothly. We had one accident caused by them not driving at the agreed 56mph.
(It was in the 3rd lane so how was it down to us? Oh I see... anything to cite speed, even if it was low, as a causation factor!)
Quote:
"The speed went down to 30mph. We tried to get them to speed up but they refused.
(Bullshit!!)

Quote:
"Two vehicles, which were nothing to do with the protest, were involved in a collision next to junction 16."

Quote:
"There were no injuries, but the collision was a direct result of the protesters' actions.
(Nothing to do with them being distracted then, Inspector Smith?)
Quote:
"We had a couple of complaints of dangerous driving, which we will be following up."
(What, like the French coach driver who dangerously tailgaited a lead bike by 10 feet at 56mph and then very nearly killed me and my partner when he tried barging us out of lane 2? Did you manage to capture that incident on your "safety cameras"?)

It was far more likely to be the fault of the Wiltshire & Swindle Pratnership telling people it was targetting them from the bridges. That's why the accident happened just before one of the bridges. One thing's for certain the accident cannot be attributable to speeding; the traffic was moving slowly... It was, from my observation, due to drivers being distracted by possible Talivans and people overhead on the bridge. In other words and for whatever reason they were distracted and not paying attention to the road ahead!!
The case for the defence rests your Honour!

Oh and by the way Inspector Smith... if you want a witness statement to either event feel free to contact me through Safe Speed.

Ok. Now I understand.

These cameras are here for safety purposes because speeding causes accidents.

But when we drove slowly along the M4 and there was an accident this was our fault.

Somebody, somewhere is talking out of their rrrrrrrse.
