I had a phone call this evening from a very nice chap whose wife's in court tomorrow on a minor speed charge.
She'd been driving and a stationary artic blocked the left lane of a single carriageway road. Naturally she pulled out and passed it, and while passing it a vehicle ahead joind the road in a potentially conflicting position (she's on the "wrong" side of the road). There's no real danger, but quite correctly she accelerates to clear the conflict zone. Unfortunately for her the stationary truck is hiding a gatso. Flash Flash. (So no one tell me you won't get caught if you are observant enough). Now we're getting to the point:
These nice people didn't believe that the ticket would be followed up. They wrote to the ticket office and explained the circumstances, fully expecting the ticket to be dropped.
It's quite likely that more than half of all our drivers have not yet realised that the age of common sense is dead and buried.
It's highly important that we make specific efforts to tell them. There's an army of potential supporters out there if only they knew what was going on.
How are we going to work on getting this key message out there?
