Are you good at complaining, are you interested in keeping the scamerati busy being 100% above board are you keen to stop the rot?

If so you may be interested to know that 90% of crap ideas from local government go unchallenged. 90% of people will believe what they read, British drivers have a can't be bothered attitude and can't see that complaining will help.

Well it does.

I'm an amature at this and have most of my complaints taken seriously. Over the last 5 years. I've triggered:

- Website pages being withdrawn due to misleading content.
- speed cameras dropped due to 'local objection' its difficult to put a camera up under the 15% community concern banner when they've had local objections.
- Casualty stats re-investigated
- 'safety' fences scrapped
- Biker facilities protected.
- articles published
- secret squirels exposed.

the thing is 1 or 2 letters is not enough. We need 20-30 or even 100 complaints to really stop them in their tracks.

If you can spend an 1 hour a week searching for local issues and posting contacts for complainers - we can all take 15 minutes to email or fax objections. Every correspondance must be replied to. Your local govt. officer is going to be pretty bored if they have to draft 30 letters a week defending their daft ideas.

perhaps if we get enough and demonstrate success - paul can create a local concerns area.

That's an excellent strategy and I agree that proper complaints can be very effective. It is however entirely outside of Safe Speed's present policy - we prefer to win the arguments with facts and analysis rather than any sort of 'inconvenience' stragegy. I don't really see our policy changing, but I'm open to persuasion.

If Safe Speed users band together to do that sort of thing within the forums, I'd raise no objection.

Perhaps it might be better to set up another campaign to do that particular job. Or use the ABD? Or any other ideas?

fine I'll take my ideas elsewhere then!

I suspect you are seen as an inconvenience even if it is not part of the plan

worth noting that SSI, BRAKE and twat2K all employ these strategies.
