Maybe he felt sorry for me as I'm 6' 4" and sat my test in a Metro!!

I'm 6'6" and had my first three lessons in a Metro, with my knees the wrong side of the steering wheel.

I then rang every driving instructor in the area to see who had the biggest car. One guy ran an Escort so I learned in that

I passed in September, I was 18 and It was my first attempt, I knew I'd passed when I pulled of the most perfect Parallel parks (the 3rd time i'd done one) within a CM , but that was only after a 5 point 3 point turn

I got lucky twice on 2 roundabouts where all I had to do was wait for the bus to pull away and the same thing but with a lorry, both blocked my view on the roundabout so it was a case of waiting for them to pull off, I thought I'd screwed up when I didn't negoiate the yellow traffic boxes, but I was in a tiny corsa and managed to squeeze in about half a metre past the boxes

Passed my tractor test age 16 first time, it was a good excuse for dad to get his old Zetor cleaned and road worthy.

My car test was more tricky, it took three attempts, boo hiss.

Passed my Class A CDL (class one LGV) in the USA first time age 23, in one of 4 brand new Peterbilt 377's, it was dead easy.

Passed my direct access first time on a GS500 aged 26

Did a locally run advanced driving course aged err, 28, I think.

Got Silver with Rospa aged 32, the examiner said I was the youngest he'd ever tested.

Not doing any more advanced driving untill driversstop being treatd like idiots.
