As for 1982... the law came in on 1/1/83. Which period were to referring to by "1982/1983"?

I meant the comparison between 1982 and 1983.

Never worn a belt. maybe one day if I have dependants or something i may but till then it's my damn choice.

although my grandmother was sicilian, now apparently in italy it's considered an insult to the driver to put on a belt. reckon it'd hold up in court? racial discrimination perhaps?

I wear one most of time after seeing someone years ago ,just after the law came in , clip the kerb at speed with a forward control van. Van rolled both ways ,windscreen popped out , van came to a halt , driver kicked door open and walked away without a scratch - needed fresh pants though.
Week later not far from the same spot accident between a van and a pickup.pickup carrying long lengths of timber which speared driver - he saw it about to happen ,but belt stopped him moving.
As the second one is less likely to happen , i'll stick to the belt.

double edged sword. some circumstances create more hazard, others reduces risks
