Only a mile? I know a road where occupying L2 appears to be compulsory for right turns 3 miles before the roundabout!

I normally pull over into the inside lane after overtaking anyway, so if it were clear I would carry on at a steady speed, and am on the lookout for lane hoppers. I also don’t think you’ve much option when there’s a great 30-ton lorry bustling up your backside.

Well, on this stretch of the A34, the roundabouts are spaced a bit closer than a mile apart, so people move into L2 only about a mile in advance

I'm not much of an undertaker, but once the right hand turn behaviour manifests itself, I will assuming that the L2 occupant won't be annoyed, unless of course I am also turning right.

I did once undertake on the A31 near Winchester, when someone pulled into L2, driving v slowly, and started indicating right a good half mile before their turn. They flashed me a lot. Why?

if they dont move i'll often sit a respectable distance behind in L2 and wait for someone else to tailgate them into submision (usually the car who was just tailgating me).... and then overtake them.
