How about a new forum which caters for camera free motoring.

Not that I am suggesting this is to encourage anyone to break the law, but for those of us who see cameras as an unnecessary and potentially dangerous side effect of the nanny state, I think it would be good to highlight those areas left on our green and pleasant land that are left unspoilt by the florescent box cancer. You never know, it could be a great marketing ploy for the tourist industry.

Just looking for ideas for excursions on the bike next year. I feel I need something to focus on to get me through the winter. Anybody got any suggestions for destinations (not Brunstromia!) and routes from the Midlands. Back roads are ideal.

This should satisfy the pro-camera squad. I want to avoid spending any of my hard earned tourist cash in your neighbourhood. I have still got a clean licence and I want to keep it that way.

If not I will just have to stick to going abroad. Costs more because of the bike rental but at least you are virtually guaranteed freedom of travel, no congestion, no tolls, cheap fuel and good weather.

My web page on Britain's Best Driving Roads may be of interest here.

IME the area south of Shrewsbury between the Severn and the Welsh border has a lot of quiet rural B-roads, nice scenery and very few cameras.

The B6277 from Middleton in Teesdale to Alston. Actually the first few miles can be a pain, but it improves dramatically past Langdon Beck. The return journey is probably the finer drive. Need to exercise caution when young lambs are around though.

I may well be across that road this weekend.

Then again it's on IG's patch isn't it?
