I'm frankly sceptical that the the licencing laws are responsible - except in one respect - public transport has not been adjusted to take later opening into account.

My own local stays open until 12 on Fri/Sat now, but the last bus home is 11.35!

Does explain why people can't take a cab though, does it?

Another aspect is the almost total absence of plod in cars around town - most of the drivers of cars I see on the way home after I've been to the pub look "iffy" to me.

Perhaps the cameras wil catch them :roll:
