case1 - humber avenue
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
use of footpath/alleyway (from rhs to lhs)
pretty obvious why i do this, yes i
could get off and walk, but its 6am and i've yet to encounter anybody down here.
case2 - deasy rd
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
se of footpath & pedestrian crossing (from top right to middle left)
i need to cross this dc from the side road which is no right turn to traffic and has kerb & railings in the middle.
i could get off and walk... or i could turn left & pull a u-turn round the barriers... i cautiously ride down the pavement to the crossing & cycle across there (without pressing the button).
i've only ever encoutered one person on this section, and i stopped to give them priority. its 6:05!am
case3 - puma way
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
rght turn on red (from rhs to top)
i suspect these lights are traffic triggered. the occasions they are in my favour is when they change as i approach, if they dont change and i stop... they never change!.... its 6:10 rarely any traffic in either direction.
case4 - mile lane
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
use of pavement (bottom right to bottom left)
just above the car dealer you can just make out the line of a cycle track which i turn sharp left onto. however it soon does a sharp right to wiggle me down the underpass.. whilst i want to go left again & rejoin the road.
no people, barely any traffic.
case5 - gosford st.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
crossing red light (lhs to rhs)
coming downhill here at reasonable pace.. to turn right through the bus gate (red tarmac, marked as for buses & cycles).. buses trigger it.. i dont. on approach there is a clear view of the roundabout & any oncoming traffic so i tend to sail through if clear.
case6 - binley road
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
pavement & pedestrian crossing (top left to bottom right)
i approach from where the strangely parked white van is... and i'd like to get to the nice looking cycle facility at the bottom right. apart from backtracking & several crossings / sets of lights..... i use the wide pavement. given i've been charging through town at 20mph... crusing down the pavement at under 10 and giving peds a wide berth seems the best option.
case7 - binley road
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =k&iwloc=A
pavement (middle left to bottom right)
having used the cycle lane and crossed at the toucan i cautiously take to the pavement to take the turning 100yds further down the road.
have a good pan round here... there are lots of cycle lanes about but none of them seem to conveniently do what i need them to!
and oh yes.. case8.... i ride across the pavement to get to the front path
but im not showing you that
