I've just been inspired to ask this by the young driver thread.

Excellent idea.

Mine's ENTP/ENFP

I wouldn't mind betting that a lot of the 'Safe Speeders' are similar, maybe 'I's'

I imagine a lot of the 'opposition' are I/E STJ's

Who will test my hypothesis?

(P.s my belbin is very much 'Plant', 'Resource Investigator' and fairly high 'Shaper' & 'Co-ordinator'....everything else zero!)

Where did you get your profile - is there somewhere online?

The original score came out as ISTJ, with ESTP/ESTJ in close second.

Having read the desctiptions of each type I'm definately a ESTJ.

Thinking and observing (sensing) are dominent factors.

Here's the one I've just tried.

ISTJ, though I wouldn't call myself "part of the opposition"

iNTj or "Mastermind Rational" according to the Keirsey description, which appears to have me down quite well. Apparently I am quite rare (<1%), and the nearest fictional match is Tolkien's Gandalf.

INTJ too. The bbc had a quickie personality profile and I remember that was what I came out as then.

3 INTJs in one place.... cue twilight zone music....

Question is, can we take over the world?

Just let me think about it for a while...

No, not that bothered about taking over the world - too much hastle.

I expect that this site might attract INTJ types because we like to think about things, question existing rules and systems and are not that bothered about authority.

I'm an "Inspirer"

ENFP
Enthusiastic, idealistic, and creative. Able to do almost anything that interests them. Great people skills. Need to live life in accordance with their inner values. Excited by new ideas, but bored with details. Open-minded and flexible, with a broad range of interests and abilities.

Belbin - I'm a Plant.

ENTJ

Whatever that might mean.

I don't reconise me here or here.

Seems I'm in good company - Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein amongst others... :o

I got ENTJ too - and that's not me either. (Unless, possibly, the work I'm now doing is changing me and I haven't noticed?)

I'm ENFP - and it really does match me.

Paul - it is possible, but unlikely that your profile is changing. It *might* be you spent too long on the questions (incidentally I never did the on line test, I am SO ENFP you'd not believe it - right in the corner). :-)

I threatened to set up a poll/discussion the other night but got way-laid.
My theory was not so much on "opposition" to cameras/pro-Safe speed vs pro-cameras/opposition to Safespeed, but for camera effectiveness vs MBTI type.

I hypothesise that, for ISxx types, speed cameras would tend to work better - make them have fewer KSI accidents in the longer term (with a possible transient worsening due to visually concentrating on the wrong things until they'd learnt how to assess MPH speed without "eyes down"), whereas for ENxx types, they would tend to work worse in the longer term, ie, make them have more KSI accodents in the longer term due to changing their safety perception (this is one of Safespeed's principal contentions - and I'm certain it applies, though not certain it applies to some, though probably not accross the piece, with little or no effect short term.

Incidentally, an overarching factor is study of and logical reasoning with Safespeed philosophy, insofar as once one gets one's head around how cameras can make things worse, one buids a healthy resistance to the damning effects - irrespective of MBTI.

quite a good mix then......so not sure if we're getting any trends from this!!

Mine is absolutely spot on and if you do belbin as well you really can get a good appraisal of your personality.

But don't spend too long pondering the questions though...unless you're an INTP then you'll have no choice!

I'm not so sure. As an ISxx type I know that once persuaded to rigidly obey speed limits, others failing to do likewise invokes indignation that can lead to extremely dangerous aggression. I'll hypothesise that the majority of prats who "close the gap to teach speeding queue jumpers a lesson" etc. are ISxx types - if only because I was that prat until I persuaded myself that the primary object of any journey is to complete it in safety rather than to obey the rules. Apparently, my type also focuses more on the "here and now", which I suspect means they are less likely to completely consider the consequences of their actions. A very dangerous combination with government speedophilia
:yikes:
