Anyone in the Cumbria region or withing easy driving distance interested in a social meet-up?
There is a new Brewery open in the yard where I have my works, and it has a sampling room, where you can try the product after you have seen the brewery! We are 15 - 20 minutes from Junction 36 on the M6 - depending on your driving style!
By Christmas there should be a distillery next door, but there is already a decent cafe too.
If anyone wished to get a chaufeur for the day/evening, I'm sure we could fix something up - perhaps in the new year?
We also have Wheelbase, the cycle warehouse if you like cycling, and a couple of other pubs, and if you want the craft bakery, you'll need to be in Staveley before 3.00 pm (Sorry BiB's, they DONT do doughnuts!)

If you need an incentive for the wife to act as driver, then Lakeland Limited is only just along the road in Windermere, and has some great bargains, and free internet access.

Post your thoughts and ideas, and lets see what develops?

Earnest, I'd love to come up and make your acquaintance and possibly a few of the other SafeSpeeders, It’s a good Idea. The one problem I have is that it’s quite a way for me and the wife, however I’d happily make the trip if we can get enough people to come up there (don’t know if the wife will be tempted to come with me) I’d need a few addresses for hotels where I could stay the night (worth making a night of it if you ask me), maybe you could post up a few recommendations for decent B&B. It would also have to be between 23 December and 5th January (for me anyway).

I am away myself from 18th until the 24th December, and I had thought of the January sales being an incentive for the wives.
I'll ask around about B&B, because you can get some good deals in hotels once the New Year packages finish, some B&B owners tend to be off on their winter hols around that time!
There is a B& B right next to the Cameras at Ings - we could visit the Watermill Pub, and watch the festive light show (they trip well below the threshold, thus intimidating drivers to go slower than the permitted 40 mph!).

Any other takers??

I'm all in favour of meeting up with a few folk from this site. In my case the distance involved would be about 130 miles at a guess, so I could nip over for a lunchtime gathering, or combine it with one of our two or three day Lakeland breaks.

It's a nice idea either way.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

It might be a bad mistake......like internet dating........or when you look at a radio presenter only to find that thre's a good reason she's on radio not tv.

I was thinking of a social get together at the brewery, not a speed dating meeting!
Maybe we could fix you up with mpaton, who says he's too posh for us! If he is to be believed, I'm sure he would not dissapoint you!

If you'd prefer, perhaps we should get a coach, and go first footing at Paul's place! :D :drink:

Ernest - you're sounding like Graham (or Graeme) on the Cilla blind date show - "and the choice is yours"

Give me a shout when you've got a date set Ernest, it's not too far to travel.

If we can get Stephen to pay a visit, I'll nip to Donuts in Kendal for supplies!

Given the distance some people are responding from, maybe I should mention this on the main forum... I was only expecting close "neighbours" to consider it! :)

I havent seen the Still yet for the distillery, but some other equipment was delivered this week, so it should not be far behind! :scratchchin:

I'll have to organise some nibbles! :drink: :drink2:

Hey this is getting bigger than I thought! Can somebody suggest a date (or two) bearing in mind the info. in the posts above?
If you DO want to take in the Lakeland Limited Sale, then early January would do, and those wanting accomodation might get some good prices.
I forgot to mention we have a Cookery School in Staveley - maybe you'd like to pick up a few hints on what to do with left-overs!

Lucy Cooks website has directions

The Brewery website
