They will track you in your car, track you when you get out of your car, track you when you leave the country and return. They will know what you have purchased and where, they will know what you have in your house and dustbins. They know where you send your money. They want to chip you, they want to test your DNA to see if you will fit in to their perfect society. How many other things?

Moot point, if you're carrying your passport, you can be tracked, who wants that?

Nope. That is only the case if it is assumed the passport is always attached to its owner. It often surprises me that no-one has ever challenged mobile phone evidence when presented in criminal cases as proof someone was in the vicinity of a crime as it makes the same presumption.

Now, if the reading of the data was used as corroboration of some other form of ID (eg. face recognition) then that is a different matter.

As I keep repeating - the danger here is that people in charge will assume that RFid is undisputably the same thing as proper identification (ie. in the same way they assumed reduced speed is the same thing as safe driving).

The fact is, no IT system is beyond being compromised by those with the right equipment & skills.

For every CSC/EDS/IBM/Cap Gemini Government Contracts Sales Consultant you show me that claims their system is "100% secure", I'll show you 10 hackers that will just laugh at him.

Dead right. If all else fails, steal someone else's logon. This is a flaw that cannot ever be beaten.

Yep, or recruit the help of someone on the "inside". Anyone can be bought.

It's ok, you'll not be able to log in without an ID card so it'll perfectly secure.

I'm not disputing any of the above. In fact I totally agree, having been the victim of 'insider' produced fraudulent computer 'evidence' myself.

The problem comes when you try to explain to ignorant managers that there is no such thing as 'beyond reasonable doubt' where digital data being used as evidence is concerned as they have been convinced by the IT spin doctors that the systems are foolproof.

RFid has a place, but I repeat NOT as a substitute for common sense checks. The analogy with automated speed enforcement and proper discretionary road policing is very appropriate.
