Just heard on the radio that the M6 toll charges are to go up AGAIN

£4 for a car and £11 for a truck.

That must be at least double the rate of inflation.

Did they give a reason for the increase?

Not that I suppose they need one...

Traffic volumes too low = we need to charge each vehicle more to make the road pay for itself.

Traffic volumes too high = we are raising charges in order to reduce volumes.

There is a simple solution - stay on the M1 ---get to j24, take the A50 and join the M6 at J16.Bit longer, but no kudos fro Midland Expressway.

i believe that the first price was an intrductory offer ie a discount off standard, the idea was to get people to use the road, now i think they have realised that it isn't as popular as they thought it would be, just look at the northern end the M6 runs off from the toll yet the traffic stays on the M6, as such i suspect it is a cynical ploy to up the takings
