Apparently in the Mail on Sunday there's an article on pages 22 and 23.

Anyone got it?

I've got it, I'll see what I can do.

Edit: What's the article about, I've only just started to read the paper. 22 & 23 are about the Russian spy. What am I looking for? :)

No wonder I couldn't find it, it's in the financial mail. Give us half an hour or so and I'll scan and post it, just getting in the bath. :)

If anyone can't read page two (the bottom one) let me know I'll resize it.

"42 per cent" :banghead:

"speeding is a factor in a high percentage of accidents in the UK"
If by speeding they mean they type that results with the aforementioned points/fine, then they should read dft_transstats_612594
5% != "high percentage" :roll:

Is a "lapse of concentration" the right way to describe his offence?

I can't see it in your post at present, but using my best Sherlock Holmes skills I found it here:

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r9/W ... 3Large.jpg

I haven't embedded it as an image because it's rather large and wouldn't do the formatting any good on some screens.

Thanks for scanning.

It's pretty desperate isn't it?

Why isn't it obvious to government and the so-called road safety industry that false information costs lives because life saving resources will be misallocated at all levels?

Because politicians never make mistakes.

I see that the insurer was Direct Line. I got done by a Gatso a few years ago (in north Manchester). That was in the days when there were very few of them, they weren't advertised in advance, and they were painted battleship grey. I too was insured with Direct Line at the time.

When the renewal came up, I mentioned the SP30 (my first ever "speeding" offence in this country) and was immediately told that my premium would be increased by 20%. So I shopped around, and got a quote £50 less than Direct Line were quoting before I told them about the "conviction". And the premium would have been exactly the same with no points.

Direct Line are cherry pickers. And once they have got your custom, they slowly hike the premiums until after a few years they are no longer competitive. And if you put a foot wrong, they throw the book at you. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole again.
