Apparently I'm quoted. Anyone got it?

I know Scanny77 has - because he PMd me - but I don't know if Scanny has a Scanner. :hehe:

tell that to the (now expired) SP10 that i got in sept 2002 on the A303. single carriageway NSL in the middle of the night with nothing on the straight road. 3 points/£60 and yet they are claiming the scameras are not capable of doing it 4 1/2 years later? blatant lie :x

:banghead: I am sure this is an assumption not a fact, and deepend on the conditions the vechicle is in.

Indeed it's false by their own data. Faster roads are safer across the board. Which is perfectly sensible when you think about it. We only choose to drive faster when hazards are fewer, and if hazards are fewer there's less to get entangled with.

There's something of an exploration of the deception on: http://www.safespeed.org.uk/trl421.html

That's an excellent article and much better than a one-line sound bite.

But, as has been pointed out, the DfT spokesperson is, yet again, spouting complete tripe.

the reason i pmd Paul in the first place was because i sent CM an email and mentioned the fact that Paul would probably agree with me on the subject. in that email i did mention this mistake about the scameras not being able to pick up HGVs.
i got an email from the letters person today telling me that it was a mistake and the correction will be printed next issue (this thursday). my email will be in next weeks as this one is full
