i have been reading up on this vascar trap.

Opposite Direction - The officer flips the TIME switch ON when she sees the target vehicle pass point "B". When the police car is opposite the front of the target vehicle (point "A"), she flips the TIME switch ON, and simultaneously flips the DISTANCE switch ON. When the police car passes point "B", she turns the DISTANCE switch OFF. The calculated average speed is immediately displayed.

what about the fact the police could switch it off miles before he gets to point "b"?.hardly fair.and the police car HAS to be at the same speed all the way to point a to point b.i dont like this way at all.ahh.it doesnt take a picture.cant prove i was there.game over.

Vehicles travelling at excess speed can be detected in a number of ways:

The following equipment is generally used by the Safety Camera Partnership.

static Gatsometer (GATSO) cameras (unmanned) - roadside;

mobile Gatsometer cameras (manned) - roadside;

LTI Speed Scope camera (manned) - roadside;

traffic safety system (video camera - manned) - roadside.

In these instances there will be photographic evidence. Copies of photographic evidence may be supplied. Requests should be made, in writing, to the:
The following equipment is generally used by officers who are not attached to the Safety Camera Partnership.

Pro laser hand-held meters (manned) - generally side of the road

Muni-quip speed meters (manned) - generally side of the road.

Police officer's expert observation - in or outside of car.

Visual Average Speed Computer And Recorder (VASCAR) (manned) - used in a car.

In these instances there will be no photographic evidence.

no photographic evidence?.how can they prove it then?.and generally used by officers who are not attached to the Safety Camera Partnership what the hell does that mean???.

Was the police car passing in the opposite direction? (i.e. you were not overtaking it)

I'm not going to make the same mistake twice :hehe:

I reckon you're pretty safe chum! :D

Do think carefully before speeding in a :30: however, provided it isn't one of these stupid dual-carriageway ones!

No it doesn't.

The timing is of your vehicle - for this the speed of the police car is irrelevant.

The distance measurement is the same regardless of the speed at which the police car does it.
