:?: Has anyone been charged or cautioned under this regarding a speeding offence?
I have heard of a couple of cases. It's a serious charge, and you must talk to a solicitor.
If you
were attempting to pervert the course of justice,
and they have evidence of the fact, then an early guilty plea should be worth around one third of any sentence.
The standard of proof to obtain a conviction should be quite high, and if you could show that you had made a mistake or misunderstood the paperwork (or whatever), then you might well be able to succeed with a not guilty plea.
I don't see any problem with you telling us what happened. I'll do my very best to help.
