Hi All,

I havent received a NIP or anything (yet) but I just wanted some advice which will let me know where I might stand if I get prosecuted for this...

This morning I was driving around the North Circular. I was somewhere near the M11 junction heading east when the speed limit dropped from 50 to 30, Having seen this I braked but it would appear I didnt brake quick enough as there was a camera and I went through it at around 35ish causing it to flash...

Further up the road (at the Barking junction) I was leaving the North Circular and as I exited the slip road there was another camera, The speed limit on the carrageway was 50 and I went past another speed camera which was on the slip road. It wasnt until I came back past this junction that I noticed a 30 sign at the entrance to the slip road - I am sure I would have passed the camera in excess of 30 mph, but I cant say I noticed a flash, although I wasnt particualy paying attention to the camera as I assumed I was under the speed limit.

Does anyone have any experience of these cameras or have any advice to offer? Can you be prosecuted twice on the same road within 10minutes of each offence?

Many Thanks,
Mark

Dodgy! It may have been a dummy, it may have been out of film or it got you. Time will tell

How do you think you missed the sign first time around? It is easy to miss?
I believe there must be a sign both sides of a carriageway to clearly show when there is a change in speed limit. If there isn’t then you may be able to argue deficient signage. Go back and take photos, as soon as possible if you can – there are snoopers who lurk here who will report any claims of wrongdoings back to the authorities such that those errors will be corrected before one can get the evidence they need.

Yes

If it's a slip road then it's a junction with another road and thus only requires one sign... Which has to be on the left... I think. Maybe. I am not 100% sure so photos might still be useful just in case.

Cheers for the quick replies...

Going back and taking pictures may be difficult as I live nowhere near that area :(

Regarding the first camera, it was a gatso and I can only remember seeing it flash once, so hopefully this shouldnt be a problem. Theres also a chance that it wasnt me who was flashed as I was in the inside lane and its possible someone in the outside could have set it off.

With the second one, I remember seeing one 30 sign on the right hand side of the sliproad - I have just looked on Google Earth and can also see two large 30's painted on the road - this appears to be before the camera was installed.

I am just hoping with this one that the camera wasnt on or something, to be honest it seems a little unreasonable that you should have to slow from 50 on a dual carrageway to 30 before the sliproad.

I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed! I really hope that I dont end up with 6 points on my licence which ive managed to keep clean.

So long as you are the registered keeper of the vehicle at the time of the offence and the registration details are correct, then you can breath a sign of relief.
