A quick question if I may....

Basically I travel down the AXX (removed incase) each day, and I usually drive on the outside lane doing 80mph on my speedometer - the same as the other traffic.

According to my sat-nav, My true speed is about 75mph (maximum).

I am under the impression that I can't be procesuted for this as by law, they can only procescute at a true speed of 79mph? (ie 10% +2)

Also, they also couldnt make me go on one of those speed courses could they?

You're either over the limit or not, so they could prosecute at 70.01mph if they wanted to. The 10% +2mph is a guidline established in order to improve their odds of securing convictions in the cases they bring to court.

Basically this 17 year old with little life expierience and even less motoring expierience has come to this site, knowing it all, complainning about the speed limits and making statements about roads policy.

What as he been encouraged by "safespeed" to do,

1 Not bother looking in his mirrors.
2 disgarde his speedometer.
3 Purchase a device that will allow him to speed without been caught.

Just to clarify that I will aim to make safe driving my priority from now on. I.e Safe Speed for the conditions.

People have been prosecuted for lower than 10%+2. However, such a charge is usually only levied by BIB, and it is a charge which can be evidenced conclusively by instrument. They will typically do so only if the driver was, in the policeman's opinion, doing something else that warranted a tug - a poor bit of lane discipline, an ill-considered overtake, a badly aligned headlight...

Similarly I am aware of police not pulling safe fast drivers either, provided deference is paid to their presence.

I for one find safetymans point of view extremely alarming.
He is clearly unable to read and comprehend anything that is put to him. He is also unable to spell, or form any kind of sentence.
He believes that new drivers have no right to ask how to improve their driving. And with masses of evidence to the contrary sticks to the ridiculous theory that speed kills.

And he works for the council, well why am I not surprised about that. And we wonder why this country is going to the wall.

They need to improve thier driving in ways other than Speeding, this site just appears to condone illegal speed

What is your definition of illegal speed? If it’s driving above the posted speed limit, then I wouldn’t want you to teach my children.

We all know it isn’t, but as long as you’re not putting others in danger then there is nothing wrong with it, the young of today don’t know any different, but in my younger days the police would turn a blind eye, as long as you where not doing anything stupid.
