It seems the DSA are about to respond to the coroner's call for lighting on M61 after 17 year old Sean (after drinking a right skinful per the inquest as reported) tried to cross the M61 one March evening at 11/30 pm/

He decided to walk home. Originally Bolton press said he made a mistake. ..

But per tonight's version we have something more worrying in that his mates say

Quote:

they would sometimes cross the motorway when it quiet but always in a group

:? :?

Excuse me.. but it ILLEGAL to do so.

Sean's relatives believe the drivers would have avoided him had M61 been lit.

:?

At 130 kph.... you travel 39 m per second. This 80 mph -ish.. I do not think so.

I agree lighting will benefit road safety for the drivers. But all the same it against the law to walk across a motorway. I do not care about excuses here. It against the law here. I expect the law to be enforced against all violations whether it be a driver/biker.cyclist or pedestrian if we are to have justice/fairness.

I can excuse - to some extent - Sean for being drunk here. I still think daft but then .. we are not teaching respect for booze any more than we teach general manners und knowing where to draw line in the other case on M60.
