I would hazard a guess that it was a police car...with the occupant(s) probably on the look out for idiot drivers or general miscreants...and - maybe - keeping an eye out for the sergeant who could disturb their donut break

Maybe they'd stopped for petrol and to use the toilets? Or perhaps the garage owner had seen someone hanging round, so had called the police to investigate?

If there was nobody in the car, they'd probably had a call to the area and decided to use the garage as an ideal location to park up the car. Was the garage illuminated? If so, they probably decided to park where the car would be highly visible and on CCTV if someone decided to attack it.

Did it say "dog unit" on the side?
I saw one of them abandoned at night on double yellow lines!
Presumably they were running their dog around looking for criminals to take money from. I mean bring to justice.

Those of you who know the A303 may know that there's often a suspiciously elderly (~5-10 year old) police car parked on a garage forecourt somewhere along here. Also seen it on an car repair place's forecourt on the A30 between Shaftesbury & Salisbury.

I've always assumed it was a crude form of traffic calming.

What a weird coincidence. I was driving down some A road or motorway somewhere I think, might have been England but Wales is possible too, and I saw a big red fire engine!
What was it doing there?
Was it anything to do with the smoke and flames coming from a nearby building?
Who knows. Its all a big conspiracy and I'm sure they're out to get me :P

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Unless, of course, the driver had stopped for:-

a) A craft ciggie round the back of the closed petrol station?
b) A pee round the back of the closed petrol station?
c) A doze
d) Parked up whilst investigating a crime in the vicinity?
