There was an interesting letter from a reader published in the Leicester Mercury today.

Road system is so dangerous
Last September; Samworth Academy opened in Trenant Road, off Stonesby Avenue (opposite my home), so speed restrictions and bumps have been put in place plus, more recently, two mini painted-on roundabouts in Stonesby Avenue at the point of Greenside Place and Trenant Road.
I have very deep concerns as also opposite is Holy Cross school, so each morning children are passing to attend these two schools.
What worries me is that since these mini-roundabouts have been put in place there have been six incidents involving cars (not serious). One car hit the railings, which needed to be replaced.
Last week a driver came through the railings, pushing the car of the person I live with into our front fence, resulting in both cars written off and new traffic lights and railings being needed.
Tonight, I witnessed an HGV coming down Trenant Road trying to turn and taking the railings with him.
I, and many others, fear someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed. I have a six-year-old son and I am so scared to take him into our front garden now.
The road system just hasn't been thought out properly.
