Vandal's spelling falls flat

A WOMAN who parked her car by a no parking sign behind a nightclub was stunned to return and find the question 'CANT READ?' (see gallery) sprayed across the body panels.

Rachel Ward (pictured) parked behind the Ruby Rooms in Stalybridge to catch a train to Manchester - but didn't spot a sign requesting 24-hour access for a fire exit.

She was horrified when she returned hours later and found the graffiti spray-painted on the side of her VW Polo in big, bright letters. All four tyres had also been slashed.

Despite her anger, she said she had to chuckle because the dopey vandals missed the apostrophe from the word 'can't'.

Rachel, 27, from Stalybridge, said: "I thought they had cheek asking if I can't read when they clearly can't spell.

"The vandalism was bad enough, but then they add insult to injury by forgetting the apostrophe in can't. It takes a certain type of person to do something like that - and it's probably the type that didn't pay too much attention in school.

"Or it could have been done by young children, who are still learning the basics."

Vandalised

She added: "I was shocked when I saw that someone had vandalised the car.

"The annoying thing is the inconvenience of having to get the damage fixed."

Having previously parked free of charge behind the Ruby Rooms, Rachel and friend Rebecca Smith didn't think twice about leaving their vehicles there again.

What they failed to notice was a new sign above one of the venue's fire exits, which said `fire exit - please keep clear. 24 hour access required - parked vehicles will be clamped'.

Rachel ended up spending more than £120 to repair the damage to her car.

Rebecca, 27, also from Stalybridge, had the same words sprayed on her Ford Focus Sport and three tyres slashed.

She said: "I don't understand why they just didn't write a note and put it on the car.

"My car was not parked near the fire escape. I've parked in that area and never had any problems before."

Police are investigating.

OK . so she was stupid.

But in her defence I can imagine rushing to catch a train.. and just not seeing a sign.

Her failure to note a sign warranted a parking fine.. :scratchchin:

but :furious: not someone breaking the law and vandalising property. I hope the person was copped on the CCTV we hear so much about as a "means to cop petty thugs" :banghead:

That's an odd one, isn't it?

He can't use an apostrophe, she can't see signs. :D

But there's something odd. I wonder if it is someone with a past involving death or injury caused by a fire, or fire escapes being blocked? They need to be found before they do something worse.

Where did she get four new tyres and the paint damage repaired for £120??? I can't even get one tyre for that!

She didn't learn the first time and then says that the vandals are stupid because they can't use apostrophes.

She would like this website. The Apostrophe Protection Society - for sad gits who can't stand apostrophes in the wrong place.

Two different people. Rachel paid £120, Rebecca had her tyres slashed as well.

Hmm. It says RACHEL had four tyres slashed on her POLO - and paid £120 to have the damage repaired, Rebecca had THREE tyres slashed, and the same words sprayed on her Ford Focus.

I agree - £120 is a very low price!!

It also said this was a night club - if so, the fire exit would not normally be in use during the day, so the action was a bit excessive - presuming it was an employee who committed the crime!

Funny how there is no picture of the sign - perhaps Mad Moggies relatives could oblige!

I would go insane if someone vandalised my car; not just view it as an "annoyance" it would be akin to someone attacking me. However, not too keen on Polos, but I guess the kind of person who owns a Polo is the kind of person who would view it as an "annoyance" Shame about the Focus though.

Night Club firebombed by irate motorist. Thank God the emergency exit was clear.

"Tyres slashed" is usually sensational misreporting of "tyres let down". Anyone ever try slashing a tyre? They are pretty tough.

You obviously dont have the right tools for the job in hand!!

The scrotes around here dont have any trouble! (Nor would I if I was that way inclined!!)
My last car had one front tyre spiked the day I got it home from the showroom - a hole in the side wall on the front passenger side - the wheel was turned slightly out where I had parked it, and the hole was at the top so they had not had to bend down too far!

I agree though, the casual troublemaking teenager just removes the caps and presses the valve with a ball point or similar.

It does seem ironic that to punish somebody for parking in the wrong place you slash the tyres.....hence making it impossible to move.
Not difficult to locate the culprits though.....just ask the owner of the no parking sign.

An easy way to catch them would be to rig a car with a video camera and park it there.

Seems like somebody needs anger management lessons!

I would have vandalised their property in retribution.

I can't quite work out whether she was parked legally or not.

Please tell me how this was illegal parking?

It would of course make me tempted to set fire to the building.
