Hi all, i'm new to this site.

I have only been driving for just over year now and although its not very long its long enough to relised that drivers are always getting the blame and being totally screwed over, especially when it comes to speed cameras!

I'm 25 and as i stated, i've only been driving for just over a year, that means i only have a rediculas 6 points, i thought it would be great with a car, i could go anyware i wanted but as it turns out its harder work and more hassel than i thought, i'm constantly driving according to my speedometer, you spend more time paranoid looking at the damn thing than concentrating on the road, you get idiots that feel the need to drive as close as physically possible to the back of your car when your doing the speed limit, kids are the worsed! If there not running across a busy road in front of you to get to the other side eventhough theres a crossing less than 50 yards from where they are, they try to impress there mates by walking across the road and as close to your car on the way as possible... while your moving! And i love it when they pretend to go to run out right in front of me for a laugh, to see me almost slam on an cause an accident, they conjugate at bus stops, about a good 10 or so and stand on the road cause theres no room, raving and jumping around.

I'm always weary when kids are on the pavement, but no time to keep an eye out on them, i've got to pay attention to the road, and the cyclists that cant decide weather to ride on the road or on the pavement, or why not both, and hop on and off the road when they feel like, or motorcyclists, they have fun dont they? Pulling wheelies, flooring it though red lights and driving in the middle of the road roaring past you.

Then you get mr 'i've just passed my test', 18 and in his 1.2 corser with a huge great big exaust, dont forget the cap, they like to fill there car with as many buddies as possible and go for a nice relaxing erratic drive, they rev there engine probably indicating a drag race at lights, doesent matter if your cars a 1.8, 2l, any excuse to razz the c*** from the lights, and just before this happens you have the late arrivers, a whoman and her child in a pram, they just get to the lights as there about to change and, seeing this, they try to get to the other side by kind of... skuttling, its not a run or a walk, something in between, but beeing that theres 2 lanes at these lights, the second line of cars might not see her... or her pram.

While some of this might be funny, this is what i have seen in my inexperianced time on the road, and thats just the first year! Obviously when you start driving you like to explore, go places, but while going places is great you have to wach out for all these things, and before you know it your doing a shave over 30 and you get flashed, like me when i went wales (never again) 36 damn mph i was doing, and again when i went liverpool, i attended a speed awareness course the first time to save my petite points.

There are so many signs in liverpool it must be impossible to read them all! There are complicated juntions and about a billion signs posted round the erea, Its a very daunting experiance driving to such a busy place for the first time, probably why a speeding letter flopped onto my mat a few days later, again, 36mph.

Speed cameras are a menice on our roads, i understand why they are used, and, apparently, peoples safety is in mind, maybe the case outside schools, or in residential ereas but what about dual carrage ways and motorways, when i read the statistics on them it gets me angry, its really unfair on drivers, they get the blame for almost everything, all those things above, if an accident happend in ANY of the above scenarios, its the drivers fault, crash? drivers fault, someone injured? drivers fault, if someone slipped on a banana peel it would be the damn drivers fault!

If saftey is really the issue, why dont they do something about the drink-drivers, or drugged drivers, oh wait they do, put a speed camera where the accident was.

You are right in much of what you say, but this had me in stitches!


You of course are relatively new to all this, but a few of us have seen a steady decline in standards for a number of years.
Hang around here and pick up a few hints and tips, then take them back to your MP and local paper, and try to reverse the trend.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but could you run your posts through a spell check before posting them in future? My browser does this for me but if you're doesn't I suggest writing it in a word-processor.

Sounds like the area you live in is a particularly nasty area. I drove in Nottingham shortly after passing my test and am scared since. Even London's easier to drive in though I dare not go closer in than the North circular. Come to Suffolk, even the impatient drivers aren't that bad! There's no cameras in Ipswich and few in Suffolk so I guess there's a correlation between cameras and poor driving standards .

Wow. Do you live in a city or something?
Where is the place you are describing? (So I know to avoid it? )
I've only heard about places where the problems are so bad, not experienced them.
