Man cuts up car in clamp protest

Mr Taylor said he took the drastic action to make a point

A man has sawn his car in half with an angle-grinder in protest at it being clamped outside his home.

Ian Taylor, from Tredworth, Glos, said the untaxed Ford Fiesta was parked on his drive with only part of a rear wheel poking out on to the pavement.

The 40-year-old builder said the vehicle was going to be scrapped anyway, but he wanted to make a point.

A spokesman for NCP Services said half of the car was parked on the road and should therefore have been taxed.

If he was going to scrap it anyway why not just let them take the car away and crush it and save the hassle of scrapping it himself?

Why is a company "enforcing" the law?

The interview I heard on the radio this morning mentioned the car had already been sold to someone for spare parts, and it was awaiting collection when the clampers struck...

I heard the interview this morning myself, it seems that the car was on his drive but one wheel was an inch and a half to two inches over his private property. All we need now is the Geheim Stat Politzei in jackboots!...........
No doubt they were: "Only obeying ..orders!"

Now -Shades of Shylock - why not cut off the offending bit, give it to them and appeal that the car is now on private property
