I see that despite employing a full time statistician, and propaganda officer, the CSCP have not had time to post up the figures for April... less than a week away from the end of May!
Perhaps this is because they need more time to dream up new spin on the April figures for Cumbria.

Or perhaps the team are missing Steve's hand on the rudder, and need some inspiration? :surprise:

If anyone has any of those motivational posters knocking about spare, perhaps you would consider donating them to the boys at CSCP? :P

No, I thought not! :yuck:

In the meantime our thoughts and condolences must go out to those families who lost loved ones on Cumbria's roads while the CSCP collected a steady income from their camera sites. :(

...and as if by magic the shop keeper appeared!

http://www.cumbriasafetycameras.org/facts.php?link=2008&display=block

.......Deaths.......SI's.........Other Injuries
Jan......4............18...............142
Feb......1............13...............119
Mar......3............17...............160
Apr......8............23...............146

5 of the fatals were in a single incident.

It would appear that despite all Steve Callaghan's assertions that cameras are working, and drivers are slowing down, they just keep dying on Cumbrian Roads.
Perhaps they should allow the cameras to roam anywhere and do more route enforcement rather than rely on core sites.... hmm - it's already being tried!

Ernest - I posted somewhere else about the M6/M74 road works .
50 limit /Lanes closed to protect workers ,plus pretty heavy protection. All to try and prevent accidents .So why do we need average speed cameras?
1) To enforce the limit
2) To catch "dangerous "(ie those not sticking to the limit ,becaise they believe that road safety is more about looking out for hazards in this sort of area than keeping within 10%+2)
3) A"nice little earner "
Incidentally ,how is a camera going to prevent a death /accident??

As Cilla said - the choice is up to you .

Know my opinion.

Figures are out for May without the need for a reminder here

Not bad so far after a dreadful start.
Lets hope motorists keep out of trouble and no doubt the CSCP will be along to claim the credit!!

Aye, but as we said a long time ago on the old CSCP forum, it's only when we see a fall OVER AND ABOVE the previous trend (about 7% a year or something?) that we'll start to take any claims made by CSCP seriously! They've been playing this game for several years now and I think the public will have forgotten (if they ever knew!) that KSIs were falling BEFORE this bunch ever started fleecing us motorists!
