What i perhaps should have added was that when i catch myself doing this, i do check(i.e. not increase) my speed and sometimes slow down to allow the other person to pass quickly and safely.

(my emboldening)

It's better to 'almost always' slow down (even if only slightly) when someone has committed to overtaking. Doing so maximises everyone's margin.

I quite agree, i should actively slow down more in this situation than i actually tend to.

PS in the 'Real problem' thread, could a mod please mis-spell some of the language used, cos my work's pc is now censoring it, whereas previously I could read it? :)

I've just had a look through the "Real Problem" thread and cannot find any inappropriate language whatsoever. Do you think maybe some of Basingwerk's ramblings have been censored?

( Sorry Basingwerk, I couldn't resist)

it doesn't need to be inappropriate language, nor what anyone would describe as offensive. The censor (WEBsweeper) works by allocating a score to certain words, and if the total and/or proportion exceeds a certain (unknown) value it censors the whole page.

Thus, bad language, any vi0lence, se*ual content, de4th, gets counted in.
I regularly get BBC News, HSE news pages, medical info, and pistonheads all get frequentlyblocked. I've had to stop using 'Yahoo' as a home page as the news content got the page censored.

Edit: forgot to mention; only page 1 is being censored.

And that doesn't just beautifully illustrate the limitations of automated nannying?

That's quite alright - I know it's working when people get nasty!
