Steve, how can you consume your life in measuring roadworks and speed limits and fractions of a mile? You may have become slightly obsessed with all this, sorry to tell you. No offence.
Sorry, wasn't that extremely pertinent to the discussion at hand? My 'obsession' as you have called it, of these fractions of numbers, has successfully demonstrated your erroneous knowledge of the actual figures of contributory factors; indeed this whole argument is based on statistics. I can't help it if I'm better suited than many others to understanding these issues – but is that not for the best? Do you agree I was right to highlight your errors and that my given statements are correct?
- You wouldn't want kids playing where dogs crap would you? Removing the dog (which wouldn't really happen) doesn't even compare with losing the ability to pay for the upkeep of one, or yourself, or your family. Care to tell us the rates of dog confiscation against licence confiscation for totting up?
- Robbing banks is not the same as doing the original speed limit on a motorway in clear conditions is it?
- Smoking (dangerous to others or not) is very inconsiderate, especially in restaurants. However, the law isn't proportional there either - a law mandating a smoke free atmosphere would have been enough.
This is probably my last input to this thread (unless I need to moderate).
My last word to you Ling, will you update your webpage with the necessary corrections and clarifications?
