Actually my current gripe isn't cleaning horse shit off the car but bird shit.

My next door neighbour keeps a bird feeder in his garden, because of the design (his house is on a corner) the bird feeder ends up right next to my driveway, so the birds come, eat all the food, then fly off crapping all over both cars as they do so. The only way to avoid this would be to park on the street and risk being hit by the occasional drunk driver that has gotten lost on their way home from the Thursday "cruise" night in the next town. (Most of them are allright if you ignore their taste in cars, but there's always one or two idiots)

I know how you feel! Our Council doesn't allow twin axle trailers into the tip anymore - which is a pity as I only have one trailer and it happens to have two axles! It doesn't matter whether it's 2 two tons of junk or 2 empty beer cans, I can't take that trailer through the gates! I've been thinking of making some sort of quick-release mechanism for one of the axles, but fortunately my mate has just bought a single axle trailer so I borrow his for runs to the tip and he borrows mine for heavy work. Of course, I'm at perfect liberty to take the seats out of my MPV and make 15 separate trips if i want - apparently that's better for the environment

Still I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is the same council (Copeland!) that, a few years ago, gave us all two new wheelie bins. A black one for household waste and a brown one for garden waste. When I rang them to ask what I was supposed to do with the original, (perfectly serviceable), grey wheelie bin, I was told to "just take it down to the tip if it was no use to me"!

On what basis are they banning twin axle trailers for?

Yet another barmy half arssed idea.

I don't think it's that uncommon to be honest! Presumably on the notion that twin axle trailers can generally carry more cr4p than single axle ones. It's all part of the "If we make it harder for people to take things down to the tip, then they'll just sit on them for the rest of their lives and pass them on to their descendants" philosophy. Much the same as if they empty the bins every fortnight, people will throw less stuff away.

Well our council have been a little more sensible on the bin thing, we get to keep our old green wheely bin, and yesterday evening a shiny brown recycling bin turned up on my path with a list of things that can go in it, glass, tins, paper etc. doesn't mention any requirements for sorting it out into separate containers.

We also got about 4 canvas "recycling sacks" with no instructions as to what those are for

So I just need to remember now. Green bin for stuff going to landfill, brown bin for recycling
I guess it's better than chucking the old bin out because it's the wrong colour.

I have heard second hand that there is a farm near here that has had 3 artic loads of asbestos fly tipped on their land in the last week. They think it has come for the Olympic site. What is the land owner supposed to do about that? He is now responsible right? Were it me, I think I'd get the media and my MP involved and would be very tempted to dump it out site of the House of Commons.
