Once upon a time, not too long ago, I was the fourth car in line (queued up) behind a Toyota Prius a Toyota Tundra 5.7L an old Ford Econoline Van and I, in my Chevy Caprice
We're all waiting for the Toyota Prius to make a legal right turn on a red light; there's no other traffic impinging on her legal ability to turn right ... Yet she patiently waits ...
After 10 secs of waiting, a horn sounds. By 15 secs, we're all honking. She gets out of her Prius and points at the sign (which is an example of the bad signage we have in Long Island):
NO RIGHT ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT
Since there was no traffic, I drove up to her, rolled down my window, and said, "Read the fine print, and stop forcing us to waste our fuel idling. Or did you not know that we use fuel to idle?" She responded, "oh, sorry." I left before she got back in the driver's seat - yes, I jumped ahead of the line, and made my right turn. As I looked back, I noted that the last became first, and vice versa, as I was followed by the old Ford van, then the Toyota pickup truck, then the little hybrid. Then the light turned green.
(I know I was wrong, but when I realized that she didn't realize that her intent was to make us wait, I was unwilling to suffer her ignorance.)
