You have to wonder what they hope to achieve by this? Its certianly unlikely to bring them any sympathy to their 'cause'.
Perhaps they really do want a tribute to 'innocent Muslim men, women and children'. I can only suppose that by this they mean those who are caught in crossfire between extremist fighters and coalition forces, as I am sure they do not mean those who are routinely tortured, disfigured, raped and killed by the Taleban for daring to want to choose their own system of governance, or aiding coalition troops in stabilising their country, since I am certain they view these people as criminals and traitors. I am positive that we can all agree that a tribute to those unfortunate souls who have lost their lives through the sheer bad luck to be caught in the middle should be forthcoming, and I would certainly support it. Is Wooton Bassett the best place for such a memorial? Of course not! Why would anyone truly wishing to mourn one group do so by 'marching' in an attempt to piss on the chips of others mouring a different group? Makes no sense. Perhaps they should make the journey to where the bodies of those they mourn are, as those flocking to WB do, though I rather suspect they lack the stones.
Perhaps they think that it is not enough for the friends and loved-ones of those returning under draped flags (noting the neutral and sensitive term 'dismembered' used by the savages) that their young men and women have been torn untimely from their lives, in a conflict that many do not agree with. Perhaps they think it necessary that their grief be compounded by the jeering supporters of those who ended their lives, like the spineless sidekicks of a schoolyard bully, jeering his latest freshly victimised target.
If they do not plan to make their march at the time of a mourning procession, then do they really think the day-to-day residents of WB deserve to be subjected to their presence, en masse, in a small quiet village? Do they think anyone cares? As mentioned previously, this is British people mouning British dead. If they are British, and they do not agree with the cause of these young people's demise, then they have every right to vote at the polls, and be heard, or vote with their feet and move somewhere where the policies they do agree with are espoused. If they are not British, and hate what Britain stands for so much, then why are they here?
I have volunteered to lay down my life for this country, and would happily do so for the right of all people to believe what they want, and express themselves as they see fit, so long as that does not interfere with the expression or freedoms of others. Let them mourn whomsoever they wish, but not at the expense of others' mourning.
