Hi all.

First of all the Mad Felines are back in the USA and had a safe journey "home". As some know - I have had one or two things to sort out in my own life - with my own family commitments: new grandson on one hand and my mother-in-law and sundry problems associated with Alzheimers and my wife's deep protective love of her Mam on the other.

I also am about to retire! And was sorting out what I'd do with myself once a "not a number but a free man" again  and I've now got my future post-retirement/"keep me occupied and outabother" all nicely sorted - with doughnut supply... golf time and car related stuff planned. I'm also going on a nice long cruise... something I've always wanted to do but never found the time to do... and we'll be spending a whole month .. on one of these floating "sky scraper super boat things"

I also do not think I will have time nor the inclination to bother in this chat room. I've got out of the habit of even looking these days. Just because I do not subscribe to the "politically correect views" of some idiots does not give them the right to post as they have done on here and other sites.... and we've not taken any action as we've kept all my details confidential - which means that all they have tried to defame is a nick name but not the true identity of the poster, However, this stuff still gets invited into my home/office etx as an uninvited guest .. and I choose to shut the door in its face. SO it does not matter if the person continues to post his crass nonsense on that other forum or any other - we do not actually read it ..and this makes his bile rather a waste of his time

To the person who apparently gets his thrills as a keyboard warrior - posting morning .. noon and night.. GET A LIFE!

Oh and by the way.. government policy does not get changed by what someone posts to a chat room. It gets changed by actual real life petiioning in the real world. Jazz and her fellow MARTsters fought the toll tax by actually drumming up support in the flesh .. with posters and petitions and knocking on the doors of local politicians and raising their concerns in a calm and intelligen fashion.

So .. all the best. I honestly do not think I will find the time nor inclination as I settle down into my sun-bed ..somewhere in the deep blue seas and sunshine... nor have the time once I start to get my feet under the table in my new career as consulting wally on some committee .. somewhere .. :yikes:

Regards

IG

Thank you malcolm. I dare say it will all seem a bit strange after all these years.

I gave it some hard thoughts .. about 5 minutes! No seriously - I've been planning for the past 3 years... I almost retired when Garvin did - but was persuaded to stay on for a bit longer.

I joined up on graduation from Uni.. one of them "dreaded career cop courses" :yikes:

Actually it was rather good as they made us experience all areas of police work on a fast track programme.. and take exams in rather rapid succession :banghead: but I've enjoyed my life and career all the same. It's been a long one.. meeting all sorts of not very interesting folk .. like them ruddy criminals  .. especially the ones in cars!

Anyways... must dash off again.. tons of stuff to do yet.. and to be honest .. I do not think I will find as much free time as I tend to spend most of my available free time .. spoiling my new grandson. :cloud9: Ted and Vrenchen's twins were quite taken with him too. :cloud9: over Christmas. I think they thought he was some kind of moving dolly!

Anyway enough of this time thieving activity. I really do think my retirement may just turn out to be harder work than working! and as a result .. I very probably will not bother posting much if at all as I do not actually browse here that often any more.

Enjoy everything that you have worked hard to achieve , enjoy your well earned cruise and make the most of what extra free time you have now. Take care,
G

I'll miss your posts; I'm grateful to have learned quite a bit from them.

Congratulations, and good luck!

have a long and happy retirement.

If you get any spare time don't forget that you are eligible to join your local bench.

Just make sure that your cruise ship is not one of the very large floating tubs that are all the rage these days. When 3500 passengers and 1500 crew are on board thats too many, and not all its made out to be. Have a good trip.

Thank you all for such kind words.

First .. speed cams will not go aways., I never said Durham did not have them. I said the area does not do "fixed speed cams/prats". It has cams in all the fleet and a high number of stealthmobiles. as the :neko: calls them. Only a fool would think "no cams.do what I please"!!!!!

Retirement?

I had thought it through long and hard for a really long time. I stayed on to train up/hand over and was being trained in my own turn for something else - which ..errrr... Ummm.. conflict of interest?

I am now looking forward to a nice jolly hols. I may put on a recipe relating to Kill It Cook It Eat It! as someone said they''ll miss me recipes

BUT on serious note

In any case.. we' in our family have got sickened by the nerdish keyboard warriors who neither drive nor ride .. based on the prolific 20 daily plus post content and apparent omnipresence on umpteen fora, Spindrift for example revs up 80 posts per day. How in God's name if he rides as claimed :? :? :? :?

If you note.. I post only when I can afford the time. Real enthusiasts do not have endless time to post.

I really do not know how a "police officer" elsewhere can make 20 posts per day on one air head site plus two others and manage to read this one and still claim to train staff. It just is not possible  Or would you rather that person post repeats from daytime TV and fail to be out there in his car? :scratchchin:

Take your choice. I know I'd rather have the uniform on the street than the key board dunce. To be very blunt and matter of fact. |sorry if some object to me calling proverbial gardening spades .. errr gardening spades .. but needs must.

But if you want to believe a poster somewhere in cyberspace on a populist forum .. which is really for track day air herds .. whose posts seem verbattim from BBC etc progs.. your look out, Might I suggest simply watching the repeats on Sky 3/ITV4 and Dave instead? Just a little thought towards a relaxing day in front of telly  for a change

Our most prolific poste in UK was Vrenchen the :neko: who worked from home some of the time and visited her labs in UK when required She and her husband moved to the USA a few months back. They rarely visit here now as they are now 100% involved in "Campaign rid Arizona of pesky speed cams and bring back cops instead" which was similar to the late Paul Smith's campaign.. only not one of us Swiss/or extended and related or simply pals campaigned for no speed limits nor some other unworkable whim of Paul's and which he acknowledged my point in a phone call in April; 2004 when I felt very worried and it was actually the day before I joined up to post as I now reflect. We chatted for a while at that point and the late Paul managed to convince me of his point of view .. We had a number of fond friendly chats ...short and sweet and meaningful as I recall.

I am elated that a driver like Rush has taken my advice on board. That means much to me as I really feel I have wasted my time in tryng to help folk over these last almost 6 years. COAST? Ignore if you dare. . only a complacent oaf can do so... and I hear one of us met one.. IT person.

teacher belonging to us on visiting kid on work experience wrote:

Scooby in car park sporting what she defined as "I am a :censored: stickers" Bloke was middle aged lardy who thinks 3 track days on average per year and changing rear tyres after 3k miles of ruibber squealing makes him a good driver

SHe's right. It makes him appear more than a bit silly

The late Paul supported my views and eventually modified his stance from the ridiculous of "no limit for experienced" to COAST values and if anyone wishes ro dispute this .. then archives from 2004 showing the "dignified exchanges"v are still in evidence on this board  Fact.. spindrift etc harp on past. BUT the late Paul showed and proved he was able to take on board constructrive criticism by incorporating the COAST view.. along with all sensible posts as opined by all regualrs like Mole/Rush/Ern/Rigpig etc,.

Our problem now .. spindrift and chums have no contest and their only attack now is to try to tarnish the reputations of those they cannot counter,

I say.. feel free to continue. They are the ones who look stupid and will look even more ineffectual as the Durham approach of cameras in stealthmobiles hits nationwide

As for speed cams. Let me remind you yet again

They will not go away.

Durham and N Woks have them .. IN THE CARS and any van is operated by POLICE OFFICERS,

Regardless of Greenshed's claims to the contrary.. the systems as opertated by N Yorks and Co Durham actually work.

The areas offer a SAC, The officers in the camvan can offer this. Trafpol can offer a DIS based on discretion. We find this all works fine,, and should do nationwide,

I guess pratsters find me too confrontational though, OPh well. But whilst some may be privy to my new career post -service.. not one person now will not get the chance to annoy me nor seek to ruin my professional career, I can and will muddy the sea bed and even scupper a submarine or two if I can
But if some folk wnat my recipe for a right tasty dish . say so and I will give the recipe.

My retirement? Got loads of presies .. but the nice words meant a lot more .. and.. yes.. I confess to a catch in my throat on my last day and the "do." It was .... well .. I cannot really fully describe how I felt.. pride in career? sadness.. forward enthusiasm for my future.,,,, hmmmm.
