A further interesting quote

Quote:
The Stern Review, according to Nordhaus, "takes the lofty vantage point of the world social planner, perhaps stoking the dying embers of the British Empire."

(Nordhaus is the author of one of the reviewed books)

A couple of points from this:

- Pretty typical that a microbiologist should be put up as an expert mouthpiece for climate change. It's like asking a dentist to lecture on bricklaying.

- Proof that exercise is bad for you. :)

OTOH. Not being a climatologist doesn't stop journalists like Christopher Booker and Dominic Lawson appointing themselves as mouthpieces for the sceptics. That is like asking a short order cook to lecture on brain surgery.

These guys are not representatives of the state which is trying to tax and restrict my activities. I can thus listen to them in the full knowledge that, may they be right or wrong, there is little they can do to affect me.

Nor are climatologists trying to tax you but you seem reluctant to listen to them. And it is not true to say journalists can't affect you.

They are competing for funding, funding that comes from the taxpayer.
A distinction without a difference.

Only the conclusions from the climatologists have a direct influence on policy, which effectively bypasses any need for public support.

Journalists have an influence on public opinion, an influence which politicians take very seriously. Degrades as out political system is politicians still need to be elected. And the journalists get their money from the same public who fund the climatologists. People like Booker and Lawson write their sceptical articles and books, not from conviction, but because it puts money in their pockets.

Iraq/Afghanistan occupation.
EU treaty signed in secret.
Poll/Council tax.

Public opinion through a few (as in 'not all') journalists won't have nearly the influence on policy as these climatologists will.

The former has to work for it; the latter has ring fenced funding. The latter gets a heck of a lot more funding.

Do you really know this, or is there a risk your perception is a little skewed?
Even if true, they could also write the exact opposite of what they do and still fill their pockets. There must be some conviction in there somewhere.

Yes but I have a choice as to which journalistic publications receive the benefit of my hard earned.

The money that pays for the government lackeys in the "Climate industry" is taken from me under (the threat of) force!

Can you justify that statement? Do you have privileged access to the STFC deliberations and accounts.

The STFC is full of the same bullshit that other agw scientits are:

Quote:
Managing climate change is a global problem. There is a clear link between climate change and the release of greenhouse gases when fossil fuels are burnt.

A couple of interesting articles about the "climate change" in politics:

Why vote for Cameron? Just look to Australia's Abbott

A global warning for the man out of time

Personally, I think the sooner we get a British Tony Abbott, the better

As everyone else suspected. AGW propaganda is being financed by "Big Control" in the form of political spending:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/02/19/eco_astroturf/

Quote:
In what may be the most expensive "spontaneous" outburst of grassroots political expression since Mao's Cultural Revolution, the old farming ministry DEFRA paid more than £8m over two years to civic society groups if they spread the correct message about Global Warming.

Those few 100ks you mentioned pales in comparison. You may not be greedy  but what does this say about the recipients of this much greater level of funding?

You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society.
