All 192.168.1.1 does is access the administrator in your router.
Surely anyone who has read the info for the router has altered the password ?
If not...who cares anyway ?
Your browser holds the same info about sites you have been to (mine deletes it every time I log-out of the browser) and so does the operating system (DNS cache).......
They could change your DNS server to one of their own, so when you access
http://www.safespeed.org.uk instead of going to the IP address 66.29.138.186 it goes to (or via) some other computer, logging your activities.
I believe that this "DNS poisoning" can even be used over "secure" (HTTPS) connections, so any online banking etc. that is carried out from
any PC on that connection can be compromised!!
Basically they have the key to your front door, and can use it whenever and however they want.
