Every day at work I get two or three emails from various leasing companies, offering to lease me cars. I am not sure why - I don't email them every day offering to do engraving work for them.

I ALWAYS use the unsubscribe option - to no avail... they keep coming.

Today I responded with a request for information on leasing TEN Jaguars, and have had a telephone response from a sales person... who seemed upset at having her time wasted - or perhaps it was just the thought of losing such a lucrative sale!

However, it transpires that despite the number of different company names on the emails, the response to all enquiries is from Central Vehicle Contracts.

Todays offering was linked to a web enquiry page - http://www.newukcarandvancontracts.co.uk/server/clients/blossom/infob.asp should anyone actually be interested in their services. The telephone call was still from Central Vehicle Contracts!

I feel I am suffering harassment since they continue to send out unsolicited emails despite being asked to unsubscribe me - does anyone else get them?

Should I consider legal action, or just continue to enjoy myself placing requests for 10 of their most expensive offering?

I have tried contacting the BVRLA with no response - I rather suspect that they don't give a fig what their members do! I should stress that LING's CARS are not one of the offending companies!! :lol:

Ms Ling was in the business pages of the paper the other day as an example of a successful female entrepreneur. I didn't realise just what you have to act like to qualify for this accolade until I saw the article. :)

That just marks your email address as being live, no wonder you get so many.

You should get a decent spam filter.

You should get a decent spam filter.

Firstly, I tried the ignoring thing for two years, and all that has happened is I have slowly got more and more of them from more and more companies. :banghead:

I use Mailwasher to filter my mail, so it is not THAT much of a hinderance to deal with, but these people are taking up huge amounts of bandwidth with this crap, and I feel it is about time we fought back.
:tank: :flamethrow:

My enquiry for ten of their most expensive offerings has revealed that one company is tied up with lots of other company names, AND they don't like it when you waste their time to such an extent!
I happened to miss the first call back, so the answering machine got it. By then I knew the number, so the next call back was told I was out of the office, and to call back at lunchtime or just after 5.00pm. :rotfl:

I had considered that the poor salesman might have contemplated missing lunch to make a sale, or even delayed going home - so when I finally took his call, and told him that all I wanted to do was waste his time as much as possible, you could hear the change in his voice! :headache: :yuck:

And finally, I have received an email from the marketing director, promising that he personally would ensure that all my contact details would be removed from their database, and that of the firm they contract to do the mail shots! :bounce1: :thumbsup:

I shall report back if there are any further mail shots in my inbox!! :whip: :typing:

I have a similar problem with Mouse2House. It is the only spam mail that does not have an unsub link in the mail. I have unsub'd on the site and sent numerous reply mails demanding to be removed from the list to no avail. The next move is to get the MD's number and phone him at 11 at night :twisted:

Yes, it is me. Ling.

Hello, achtung all speedy SS nutters and superior beings :) You talk about me, I find out about it hahaha.

Spam Emails
==========

Yes - I agree with these leasing emails, I get them too.

Yes - there are a few certain offenders.

Yes, the BVRLA (I am not a member as they are 100% useless). Worse than that, the BVRLA give a veneer of credibility to these companies. I have a link to what I think of the BVRLA here http://www.lingscars.com/bvrla.php. They have a "code of conduct" they spout on about but do nothing to uphold it.

Not only all the above but these companies usually advertise criminally (they exclude VAT yet offer to private individuals), I have an explanation here: http://www.lingscars.com/feature/illegal.php

They also hide fees, high initial rentals and magically have just sold out of the cars when you contact them, and try and put you in a higher cost deal. Amazing, eh?

===

Re the newspaper thing, that was in the Mail (shock) - I thought they usually only showed immigrants in word association with "deport" or "illegal".

The video of the ceremony with me a bit pi55sed and Fiona Bruce sparkling is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOv7w5xEhP4

===

And finally, my MEP next-door neighbour pal Martin Callanan has issued The European Parliament's Environment Committee 17 page draft report on van CO2 stuff and one of the proposals (that I told him sounded great) is to make speed limiters on new vans compulsory to 120km/h (75mph). I was thinking of Safe Speed when I gave him an enthusiastic nod on that one :)

Actually, a limit on van speed will do a lot of good.

You should email / write to them (if you have not already) clearly stating that you wish to be removed from their list AND add that your letter is also being sent to Watchdog and Trading Standards. Do send it to them as well - of course. :)
I know a very large organisation in the UK never did (used to) anything with complaints, unless it had those 2 magic words in it.
Your local TS will be in your local phone directory if not online ...
