More than 1,000 Dorset motorists flout seat belt laws
3 August 2010 Last updated at 17:29
As part of a road safety crackdown 1,600 motorists were caught not wearing a seatbelt on Dorset's roads.

The motorists were caught during the first sixth months of a year-long initiative called No Excuse being led by Dorset Road Safe.
A further 700 people were caught using their mobile phones while driving, police said.
The county council said about 1,300 fines were also issued for various driving offences during the last month.

Dorset Road Safe is a partnership including Dorset County Council, Dorset Police, Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset Safety Camera Partnership.
Ch Insp Bob Nichols, Dorset Police's head of special operations, said: "There continues to be an unacceptable number of motorists who are prepared to risk their own lives and those of others by refusing to comply with laws designed to prevent tragedies."
Robert Smith, the county council's road safety manager, said: "Being distracted or not wearing a seatbelt while on the move can have fatal consequences for you, your passengers and other road users.
"Brain-in-gear, mobile off, seatbelt on."

And as the cash gets withdrawn form the Safety Camera Partnership - will this be the next new Quango - another "pratnership" ,offering the ultimate cure for "road safety"

If they can't afford to employ people in SCPs where will the council get the cash to fund other quangos?

I reckon they will re-group and the head of that as I see it so far (and I might be wrong) is Road Safety GB Here - very worrying, they have a chap who is on the Board of the DfT - how come that is allowed - talk about vest interest and control ! And they already clearly show a close link with RSS ltd - also very concerning indeed. All jobs for the boys by the face of it !

Dorset Safety Camera Partnership transition to Dorset Road Safe

From the 1st August 2010, the Dorset Safety Camera Partnership will be renamed Dorset Road Safe.

The decision for the transition was taken at a strategic level by the Dorset Strategic Road Safety Partnership on the 8th March 2010. The name change has been implemented to reflect the fact that the Dorset Safety Camera Partnership has always been involved in a wider range of road safety activity not limited to speed education and enforcement. Dorset Road Safe continues to be a fundamental part of the Dorset wide strategy to make the roads even safer and also to demonstrate a joined up approach to road safety by everyone in the wider Dorset road safety community.
