I drive my children to a club along the A127 most days as I've done for a few years. Today, in the same post, I received 3 speeding fines for doing 56, 53 and 52 in a 40 mph limit at the same spot. The road is mostly 70 mph but I'm guessing that there's some hidden camera where it nears a chicane that must go down to 40 mph. I'm guessing they must have swicthed it on this week.

Will these get processed as 3 separate incidents e.g. will I be receiving 9 points at least, possibly more (a ban ?).

Is there anything I can do ?

I think there are precedents for multiple offences of the same kind being treated as a single offence, although I can't provide a link.

Certainly you should take all three to court rather than just accepting the FPN - presenting the cases at court may lead to a more lenient judgment.

You may well find more detailed advice on http://www.pepipoo.com

I think the offences being over 3 separate days would not count as a single offence.

Do let us know what you do, and what the outcome is.

I remember doing the same person on the same day three seperate times, that was deemed to be one single ongoing offence as for different days and times they are most definetly seperate.

The 40 limit on the A127 is just for the chicane at, I think it is called the Fortune Of War roundabout. It is a Gatso, it is well marked, the camera is easy to see, there is that yellow grippy tarmac and rumble strips on the approach to the round about. So I guess you weren't watching what you are doing. The fact that I can slow down for the camera, speed back up to 50, brake and get around the roundabout without dying, in the wet is for another debate.

Also all of the people involved in the 50 limit and SPECS cameras should be executed.

That was on almost the same occasion -like bloke having three almost bald tyres on one stop . This one is three separate times on three separate days( like as on day one -tyre was on front offside ,day two tyre was on front nearside , day three ,tyre was on rear nearside) - so it could be construed as someone who someone who didn't have any respect for the law ,and might expect to get a bit more than expected if referred to a set of magistrates.

There are a number of points that you can choose to check to ensure that all aspects of the road and the speed limits fully legally comply with all the regulations.
You can employ experts and a solicitor to help show these points (if errors have been found) to the Court. You can still plead not guilty up the the morning prior to the Court Case.
As they are different days then they are very likely to be treated as three different cases and so 3 points/case.
If your case went to Court and the local Camera Partnership offers a speed awareness course you might plead guilty to two and perhaps have a course for another, and then only have 6 points and a fine, plus speed course and any Court costs - but that will take into your circumstances into consideration.
I am not a lawyer and cannot legally advise you - we strongly suggest that you obtain proper legal advice.
See (as already suggestedPepipoo) or any good solicitor.

I am aware that if you are stopped e.g. and you have 3 bold tyres they can only charge you for a single offence. (But that may go to Court etc ...)
Remember this is a camera that automatically fines for infringements of legality not whether you were otherwise safe or not at the time.
We do not condone 'speeding'. We do understand that the setting of speed limits and driving safely is a big and involved subject that cannot be reduced to a single factor. We also appreciate that driving safely cannot be measured in miles per hour alone.

here's your camera

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 97.09,,0,5

the 40 limit and the camera was put in on a temporary basis for 6 months. It stayed there for well over 9 months. Then it was covered up as it is in the link, then they fired it up again, probably after a motorcyclist slipped under the wheels of an artic in January.

If that refers to my allusion ,Claire - stopped on one occasion with three bald tyres - most likely you'd get a hefty fine ,but only three points , and it would be a court appearance .But stopped on Monday with a bald tyre on LH front, Tuesday with it on RH front, on Wednesday on LH rear - that's asking for at least nine points ( and possibly more if it was same tyre) .Same principle to the kids flaunting the camera

This scenario would be charged as three separate offences but, for sentencing purposes, would NORMALLY only attract one set of points. Courts do have the power to impose points for each tyre if they feel that the overall seriousness of the offending merits it. For three tyres just under the limit on a dry day, little or no traffic you might well get away with one lot of points. If you were caught with 3 very bad tyres, wet road, high speed, lots of traffic - the court would consider points of each tyre and might well go directly to a disqualification

Thank you. Do you have the legislation references ? (It's not that I don't believe you, just that I'd like to see the specific details for any further references and learn.)
