Ah right; looking back I see that now Steve. The bit where I thought weepej made a point was when he said you make the bend more blind by going faster, which I took to mean the faster you go around a bend the less likely you are to stop if there’s a hazard ahead. But that wasn’t what the OP was about.

Of course road positioning makes a difference, as does the condition of the car, yourself and weather etc. so once again it comes down to driving to the conditions about which a flashing sign will still tell you nothing that your own head can't guide you better if it's trained well. :headbash:

Don’t forget that you’re in a nice position dcb, in that you have only yourself to answer for and not managing a forum, like the mods have to, with a range of posts and personalities. As such, you can take advantage of the situation rather like an angry worker criticizing management and how the company runs with the added bonus of ignoring anything you don't like.

If you have ever run a company or been in management, (I have several times), you will know the truism about “you can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time...”

Getting back to weepey's "blind bend " argument...I let it drop earlier because it wasn't really relevent to the topic BUT to me a "blind bend" is one that you cannot see the exit to when approaching on the straight leading to it and an "open" bend is one where you can clearly see the straight bit of road after the bend, whilst you are still approaching the bend, usually because there is no foliage or building obscuring the exit view, (and this can be true of even hairpin bends). Approach speed or cornering speed makes no difference, if you can't see round the bend onthe straight as you approach it , it's still a blind bend to me.

Going 'in' to the bend slow is the best process, as not only does this give you the certainty that you can stop in the distance that you know to be clear, but also enables the maximum time to check all aspect of the bend as you slowly proceed. It also help car balance and steering set up but they can be discussed at another time.... or at least in another thread. :)

And if whilst still on the straight that the bend is tightening, it lets you apply speed restrictions to prevent you exceeding a speed for that bend ( based on your experience ,as an experienced driver of that vehicle ).(I'd ignored dcb 's arm flailing gestures as someone lost in the fog of ignorance . )

Please don't ignore me. Rather teach this humble seeker after truth what is really meant by the term "blind bend", that he might extend his forty year term as a fast ans safe traveller on twisty country roads.

Is English your first language, Botach?

It was a fair question. Botach's prose is often disjointed: it is always difficult and often impossible to extract the exactly what he is trying to say - which is why we often end up at cross purposes. That style is characteristic of someone writing in a foreign language which is why I asked the question.

I put it to you that you asked the question as a put down, not out of a genuine thirst for knowledge.

(Does Scottish count as a separate language  ?)

And I refute that suggestion. If English is not his first language then I salute his efforts: if it is, he needs no put down from me.

Nor was it last time, in fact, last time I think the consensus was that it was your fault!

You think a lot, not necessarily correctly.
As for the fault: I've since explained my actions, subsequently resulting with 3 users accepting my position, and no counter argument was raised – so what "consensus" are you talking about?

Can't help but notice that Mole's 'nonsense' prediction came to pass.

And looking back at the topic "BLIND BENDS ETC" - I can't see the relationship between bends and language - so another very off topic drift dcb . A put down from me . But then dcb does more drifting than a trawler . I'll stop there before I do a dcb ,and end up in ad hominie country - where I'd suggest he's in with that last post ,and ask mods to deliberate .

If you look back you will find that I seldom draw attention to typographic errors or minor spelling mistakes. I would be a very busy little bee if I did.

Given that the topic is "blind bends and other arguments" there is little scope for going off topic. :D

Sorry chaps but this forum is not to descend into yelling at each other.
We all have ways of communicating that others can find less than best to sometimes understand and forums and e-coms can make it harder to appreciate. Please just try to re-ask a direct on topic question - perhaps ?
I can allow a private discussion if a few of you so wish, otherwise, please stay on topic and stop the personal attacks.
:)

I'm not shouting , I only see that dcb's problems come from typos/ spelling errors- so perhaps he might go on over to FIREFOX and down load the English( not the DERBYSHIRE VERSION) of the spell checker/ grammatical checker - he seems to be missing .

Many people make typos, as well as bad formatting errors. Part of my responsibility is to ensure posts are readable, so I see and correct the worst of it before others read them

Can we all concentrate on the points and not focus on how they were typped :)
