Road Safety Knowledge Centre (here once registered)
Road Safety Knowledge Centre wrote:
The Road Safety Knowledge Centre (Knowledge Centre), which went live in mid-September 2010, has made good progress in terms of content and number of users.

The Knowledge Centre is a comprehensive online library/directory of road safety information and resources. It replaced Road Safety Time Bank, is owned and managed by Road Safety GB and was developed with funding provided by DfT.

Access to the Knowledge Centre is free of charge and open to all. Currently (10/1/11) there are 1,451 registered users and 338 member organisations. The corresponding figures in early October 2010 were 534 and 266 respectively.

There is also a ‘help’ facility which enables registered users to request advice and assistance from fellow users. To date there have been 47 help requests, and 141 replies.

In terms of content there are now 738 listings in the Knowledge Centre, all of which have been added since August 2010.

Nick Rawlings, speaking on behalf of the Knowledge Centre project team, said: "We are very pleased with the initial response from users and with the amount and quality of material we've added.

“Feedback from users has also been very positive and we are in the process of running a survey among users to help us decide what modifications we could make to further enhance the Knowledge Centre.

"While it is early days, all the signs are that this is likely to prove to be a very useful resource for road safety professionals for many years to come."

Click here to visit the Knowledge Centre or for more information contact Nick Rawlings on 01379 650112.

The burning question, well one of them, is are you going to register? ;) They may welcome some SS research...

I have already but I called them first to ensure that if I provide links that I will not be discarded immediately, I was told that if Nick Rawlings (with whom I spoke) didn't feel that he could authorise it then the 'Project team' would decide (and I took all their names, positions (in RdSKC) and current jobs - some are Road Safety officers assigned to Counties). I have hope. I would expect therm to hold the right not to upload data when they have unworthy material.
As an organisation I can have a page to provide links or upload information. Time will tell. :)

Thanks for completing the registration process for the Road Safety GB
members area.

Unfortunately access to this area is restricted to road safety officers
working for local authorities that are members of Road Safety GB, and as
such I am unable to authorise your registration.

I have, however, added you to our subscriber database which means you will
receive a weekly email alert summarising the road safety stories we have
published on our newsfeed.

I hope you will find this service useful, but if not simply let me know and
I will remove you from the database.

Perhaps a call to Nick Rawlings on 01379 650112 would explain why the claim "Access to the Knowledge Centre is free of charge and open to all." which was made on 10/1/11 is now not the case.

If you go to this page here :
http://www.roadsafetyknowledgecentre.org.uk/
and register (as an individual or organisation), then I assume you will be approved.
I am not sure why it is not an open forum ?
The material is mostly Government paid for so why the need for extra admin. or is it just a way to deter the casual or deliberately disruptive user ?
I don't yet see much of a forum area .. but it maybe there.

I am sure he will take your call, they seem very approachable.
