A few years ago now, it may be as many as ten (time flies don't it) A work college of mine who is no longer with us sadly, went to visit family in South Africa. I forget exactly where he went but I think that it was in or near Cape Town. One day they drove up to Durban to see other family, filled up the car at some ridiculously low price. I seem to remember 11 pence per gallon, but my memory may be fooling me, so let's say: 20p. The main point is that for this lowly sum the Government of SA provided automatic 3rd party insurance included in the price. Obviously poor South Africans would not be able to splash out a yearly large lump sum for insurance, so the state provided in this way.

I have to say: for the amount of ruddy tax per gallon that we are paying, these bastards could cover us all "Fully Comp"!

That is one thing on which Steve and I do appear to agree. But Steve's sophistry is so developed that he will probably argue that his phrase "Placing the insurance on fuel (at least 3rd party anyway) solves a lot of problems" means that he vehemently opposed to the idea. Even if he isn incapable of explaining the difference between a market driven by legal necessity and one driven by physical necessity.

Given that: every facet of the argument can easily be countered, that many of my points have been evaded, this focus on an argument that is unrelated to the underlying point, that trolling techniques are being deployed (diversion, accusing others of one’s own bad behaviour), and the further antagonistic personal sleights, I can’t help but conclude that I’m being baited. Therefore I will now be selective with who I respond to.

I will be happy to continue the debate (if there is anything more left to discuss about it) with someone who isn't "mischievous" and who wants to discuss the actual issue instead of wanting to "explore other ways of stating the question".

The problem is that we have lost sight of the issue. The " (diversion, accusing others of one’s own bad behaviour)" are not one sided. AFAIAK you have continually evaded my central question.
But if you would be so good as to re-iterate that issue I will attempt .debate it with you without upsetting your somewhat sensitive soul.
