GM Leads U.S. Automakers in December to Post the Best Sales Year Since ’08

Ford’s passenger car sales fell 15 percent in December, while sport-utility vehicle sales rose 16 percent, the company said. Ford brand sales for 2011 were above 2 million for the first time since 2007, the Dearborn, Michigan-based company said last week.

Sales of Ford’s Explorer SUV rose 37 percent and its F- Series pickup gained 24 percent. Fusion, the company’s top- selling car, decreased 4.5 percent and its Fiesta small car was down 30 percent...

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is still not completed. We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

At least they are not in recession. :)

After all it is not the type or size of vehicle that one drives but how you drive it that matters ! :)

Much of the USA still believes in the 85th%ile when setting speeds, but it is sad to see the same patterns of behaviour spread through the rapidly growing speed camera industry, as it 'takes over' in neigh the same manner as in the UK.

I agree!......A war on the motorist! it's become nothing more than a "tax collecting"......"oil importing protectionist scheme" to stop you buying the stuff! :x (balance of payments...that's what it's all about) From now on only the mega-rich will be able to afford fuel.

They are; ..... "boiling a frog" with Tax and devaluation of your currency, and the "frog" is ...YOU!

Feels more like microwaving the frog lately. :x The elitist mode of transport is nearly here.

Yes, in America they have a better grip on road matters in my experience. I always mention the large sign '40mph. 20 when children are present'. If you are so much as a fraction over 20 when a kid is around you stand to get a ticket.

Unfortunately our feeble minded country can't understand that simple concept..

You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society.

Seen similar ,with flashing lights around schools with the sign "School zone ,20 when light flash" .But ,we've got a rough idea of when Schools are going in /kicking out, so common sense would dictate to drive according to the conditions i.e. a good bit slower with an eagle eye peeled for little feet showing around cars. ( and especially if there's a stack of 4X4 parked around ). So in theory ,we shouldn't need the signs .
