Only cyclist can tell you personally if they have a motor vehicle and therefor pay Road fund/s ...
I agree that as a cyclist he 'won't' but that doesn't mean that he isn't !

As for her attitude that dares to justify such appalling actions is just disgusting. I hope she loses her driving license for quite some time.
I know some of that area and when bike rides/races are held there are usually many many signs to warn you of potential cyclists ahead.
I find it hard that she was not aware of their presence, but even then ...!
If she did pause or stop then she should have gone back and ensured he was OK.
He says he rode into the hedge so did he or was he thrown. Clearly he had not received major damage although I'm sure was shaken up. However he should have reported it.
Emma most certainly ought to have .... I am sure all sensible people are just appalled!

Sounds like it was quite a heavy glancing blow.. i'd suspect side of leg / bike onto front wing..... A-pillar.. wing mirror and enough momentum to keep the cyclist moving forward & "bounce" back onto the side of the road mostly now out of control into the hedge until slowing enough to wrestle it back under control and onto the black stuff.

Hard to say, response & handling of these kind of situations goes very much on instinct and hard to always recall what the exact sequence was !

... and hence why people are encouraged to call Police immediately so that all evidence can be best recorded and gathered.

It's completely irrelevant.

The warped logic that says cyclists shouldn't use the roads because they don't pay VED should also mean pedestrians can't use the roads, even to get from the drivers door of their car to the pavement.

How can they pay road fund license? It was abolished in 1937!

Ah Keith Peat, the guy that fiddles round the edges of saying cyclists should not be allowed on the road, but cycles himself. He doesn't believe what he writes, goes off in a huff when questioned and as far as I can tell does it to stir things up; classic definition of an internet troll.

mmmm that sounds familiar, I'm sure we get people like that on SS but can't quite put a name to them at the moment...give me 2 seconds....by the way did you ever answer mine/Claire's and probably a few others question, about your reference to how and why 50MPH is far safer tha 60MPH?????....I can't seem to see that one (amongst others)

My views do not represent Safespeed but those of a driver who has driven for 39 yrs, in all conditions, at all times of the day & night on every type of road and covered well over a million miles, so knows a bit about what makes for safety on the road,what is really dangerous and needs to be observed when driving and quite frankly, the speedo is way down on my list of things to observe to negotiate Britain's roads safely, but I don't expect some fool who sits behind a desk all day to appreciate that.
