Now if this isn't a major distraction to life as well as driving I don't know what is ! ... Progress to accident after accident .. or am I missing something?

You don't see the possible benefit of having a heads up display of your satnav? Never having to glance down at your speedo again?

Another benefit is that everything is hands free, no space for fingers on that tiny screen, no fumbling with a handset.

And since it's something you always have there it will quickly lose it's distraction potential and it won't be a gadget you use once a blue moon and forget how it works in between.

I like gadgets. :)

You might be right that this will become the new norm in time ... and maybe even in a very short time frame too!

But if the capabilities of this facility enable me to do so much without using my hands then what is to stop people from playing games when driving and checking email etc ?
'When 'is driving' defined. It used to be in charge of the keys to the car but this may change that.
Might it become, only when moving, and when stopped .... 'do what you like' ?

Can a distraction ever not be a distraction? Can we learn to handle it sufficiently enough ... really ?
It is so much more than a radio or cd.

When might it be safe to really do very much at all other than the driving task ?
Now if they had it so you can just speak to a computer (we may all end up with 'Kit cars' (Knight-rider after all!!) ) then that may remove much of the distraction.
