no doubt you have heard about the farmers who decided to start protesting a week early yesterday.
fawley has been targetted today. truckers and farmers started a go slow protest at 4.30am running at 40MPH up and down the A326 between fawley and the M27. fuel has not been affected yet but we dont know when they will start to blockade. this is the refinery most likely to affect your protest on saturday

it wont affect the mini drivers. a tank of fuel lasts about a month in a mini

they have done it too early though. friday would have been better if they hit every refinery at once. the protests would have had time to affect everyone before the elections which was the original aim. this is too early. they will have given up by the 5th :x

I'm not sure whether it's too early or not. As long as fuel is getting out and their protest is being registered then a blockade later on will simply be a natural progression-and there's no reason why this shouldn't be the case.

It COULD be a well thought out tactic to provoke Blair into using the army to resolve a protest just before or during an election. That would be a very shrewd move on the farmer's part, and it'd quite likely lose the election for labour.

we would have to recall them from all over the place. they are still in bosnia for crying out loud. ITS BEEN 14 YEARS!

i agree with what you are saying though. IF they hold off the blockades til then. this could catch a lot of people out though. the general public will remember what happened last time. that could spark early panic buying which is going to bugger up those of us who are planning to stock up later this week.
i will laugh if some companies find their drivers picketting and call on the agencies. if i was asked to join a picket line, i would turn up and join them

40mph is a bit fast, legally it's the speed limit for HGVs on half of that road, and is only 10mph slower on the dualled section, where the HGVS can detour along the A35 and M271 anyway. 20mjph would be better (probably cost more in fuel though).

If they want to have any effect on fuel supply, then a blockade will start when they realise how ineffective what they are doing is.

what happens with a fuel protest for each of us personally?

People rush out, buy petrol, cause a panic, other people get the train for a day or so!

not quite. when they blockade the refinerys, the fuel will dry up within a couple of days. that means the shops will run out of goods within a day or 2 after that. if the trucks cant get fuel, they cant deliver to shops. 7 days of no fuel will cause massive problems for the country. this was researched a few months ago by some university. it would only take a week to cause irrepairable problems to some businesses, especially transport companies but since they are going bust anyway, it makes no difference to them.
the transport business is the only industry other than oil who could destroy the economy and create mass panic. think about it. no fuel = no food. how long can you go right now without a visit to the shops?

I knew several people from the now famous protest of 2000, they hav,nt died and gone away but are much wiser now, and as everybody is well known these posts and people are very probably being monitored by the men in black ( im scared in case they plant a monitor on my internet usage AND FINE ME AUTOMATICALLY because they can track me without old PC Plod) All i can say is, if you keep a mini full then give me your number so i can get a lift when my car runs out of fuel NEXT WEEK ( well not really, but will do if needed. Dont give too much away chaps, just a little tickler.
