They don’t care about us as individuals – we’re just jostling atoms in the system. But it may become more difficult for us all to get charge-free cash. Soon, 2/3rd of cash machines will carry charges. As cash is used for many crimes and tax fiddles, there is a strong imperative for banks and the treasury to move to an e-cash or even cashless society. It is possible to go cashless for a period of weeks today.
Once society is cashless, you can control the money flow, checking who paid what to who and when and where and for what. Control the money, control the crime - that's the idea, anyway.
