I was travelling on the A3 yesterday, and whilst overtaking got to just under 80mph, and slowed down as soon as i saw it. There was a police volvo parked up on the hard shoulder. Would they have stopped me if they were going to do anything?

If you were just under the 80, then I doubt for one minute they even really noticed you.
I find that motorway cops don't really give a flying f**k for people sitting on the 80-85 barrier, what they are more interested in is the idiots that tailgate, undertake or drive at way excessive speeds.

Even if you do get a tug for speeding, the chances of walking away unscathed are quite high providing that...

1. You were not blatantly taking the piss

2. You pass the "attitude" test (which is a piece of piss to pass).
